It's a couple of minutes from Marmaris on ONE bus, I've done it.

If the Havas bus takes you to the Otogar in Marmaris then the only dolmus (minibus) you can get from there is a green one, which doesn't go to Icmeler.
That'll take you down to the Marmaris sea-front, and along the 'Hotel-strip'.
You need to get off that dolmus anywhere along the 'hotel-strip' and flag-down an orange dolmus to Icmeler.
And it ain't a couple of minutes either, 11km and 15-20 minutes from the Ataturk statue near Marmaris marina.

And turn up without a prebooked transfer and it does cost £100 plus. The 70km I'm pretty pleased with, I looked at a map and guessed.

So the solution to that is pre-book your transfer, which considering the distance from Dalaman Airport, is the sensible option. If you don't want a private taxi then A2B, Resort Hoppa, Travel Republic, and others all provide a cheap on-line shuttle option.

The reality is you can do it for £10 return my way of £50/60 your way.
Don't fluff it over with "your way is hassle" etc because it's not. I did it alone with 2 young kids in tow and bags to last us 8 weeks travelling.

Who in their right mind wants to hit the tarmac late at night with 2 kids in tow, not knowing whether they'll be able to get onward transport to their destination or not? Okay, there's always one!
Had you paid for, and lost out, on that night's accommodation, or had you built hanging around all night into your cunning scrimping plan?

But then I guess you're the type of guy who gets a taxi to a uk airport cos its less hassle than taking a train right?

Couldn't be more wrong! We always catch the train, booked
on-line in advance, from Portsmouth Harbour straight into LGW. If we've got an early morning flight then there's not much point booking a hotel if you have to get up a silly hour, so we get the last train and doss at the airport for a few hours.

I'd always planned to get the bus, but my flight was heavily delayed meaning I missed the last bus.

You're obviously the authority on this part of Turkey hence you knew there was a bus.....:p
I was visiting friends and heading to Istanbul via a few Roman sites en route to Nepal.

You stick to paying waaaaaaay over the odds, I'll continue to smile as I slip in with the locals whilst the locals slip it in you ;)
