Nice posting Greenface:T
Fang - Greenface has given you a nice taster, but now go onto the Icmeler discussion forum on Trip Advisor. It's an excellent forum, and by using the search box and all the other information available at a click, then all your questions and more will be answered.
We've been to Turkey several times. Everywhere is different, with it's own character, friendly people, great local and regional transport, and the scenery can be wow. Our first venture to Icmeler next month. It looks really good.0 -
Hi This is my first time to Icmeler and Turkey so I do not know what to expect and I have heard many mixed views on the place.
Can anyone recommend any good bars/clubs/resturants and things to do in Icmeler.
Do any places show premier league football.
Is it good for walking/ biking etc
And what trips are worth doing.
Cheers guys
Fang

So I'm giving them a whirl on 9 April.
Icmeler looks like an excellent holiday choice too. We're splitting our time between there (Arya Apartments), and Calis Beach (Mutlu Hotel).
We used DM Transfers.
We arrived late at night, so didn't want to mess around with a shuttle transfer.
Cost £37 one-way for a private taxi. We expected a bog-standard saloon, but ended up with a luxury Mercedes Vito people carrier.
Distance is 110KM from Dalaman to Icmeler, and took 90 minutes in heavy rain and strong winds.
Well recommended.
On our return from Fethiye to Dalaman we took an A2B shuttle. No problems.0 -

If there is, then it isn't very frequent.
You're absolutely right, I just made it up.
I was bored and thought "what can I do..." Then it hit me - Why don't I pretend there is a bus from a place that there isn't in Turkey!!
Got to admit, it's one the best ideas I've had in a while.

"We needed to get to Icemeler which is about 70km from Dalaman and since we had not pre-booked transfers and refused to pay over a hundred quid for a taxi it meant a lengthy wait for the first public bus. We made our way through the darkness and across the airport to the domestic terminal expecting more to be happening. We were wrong and so found a cafe at the Havas stop. We laid down went to sleep and were it not for the friendly mosquito that bit me just to let me know it was in charge round these parts we’d have slept past the first bus which was actually at 0730" (Excerpt from my blog)
For anyone interested in taking the cheap option: http://www.havas.net/en/shuttle-parking/dalaman/
£6.50 each way0 -

It's 110KM.
You can pre-book a taxi for a lot less than £100....round these parts we’d have slept past the first bus which was actually at 0730" (Excerpt from my blog)

Fine. But the Havas Bus terminates at Marmaris Otogar. So you've still got to get a taxi to Icmeler (or 2 x dolmus, or walk!).
You may save a couple of quid, but with the amount of travelling and dossing on a airport bench that you've done, you'll have written off the first day of your holiday.0 -

It's a couple of minutes from Marmaris on ONE bus, I've done it.
And turn up without a prebooked transfer and it does cost £100 plus. The 70km I'm pretty pleased with, I looked at a map and guessed.
The reality is you can do it for £10 return my way of £50/60 your way.
Don't fluff it over with "your way is hassle" etc because it's not. I did it alone with 2 young kids in tow and bags to last us 8 weeks travelling.
But then I guess you're the type of guy who gets a taxi to a uk airport cos its less hassle than taking a train right?0
