At the moment I'm looking to buy a guitar amp costing under £500 but am currently unemployed and living off savings which will be running out fairly soon.

    Then you can't afford it.

    Simple.

!!!!!! is wrong with you? He clearly said he is living on savings. How can you say you are living on JSA when no one mentioned it? Narrominded busy bodies is all you are.

DOES IT MATTER! Seriously, get off your high horse.

The OP cannot afford a loan as he has no income and his savings will run out soon.

    Gawd some people eh?
My partner works full time for a major blue chip company, iam disabled and on mid dla,
we dearly have wanted to go on holiday abroad for over 5 years now but even with our income we can barely afford the bills let alone luxuries.

I would kill for a job, i would kill for a 3d tv ipad/projector and a car that doesnt jerk because we can only afford to put just enoguh petrol in for the week each week, we havent been on a night out since august last year..

But i/we accept this and i try and do bits here and there on the net such as comps just to try and make little bit extra but mainly to try and win one of my dreams above, it may happen it maynot.

But for soemone to come on here and take the p*ss out of good people when they are spongers saying i wanna go buy this...
thats why this countrys going to pot because these kids want everyhting now and s*d the consequencies!!

You may think im over the top angry and iam my partner slogs her guts out and can barely keep her eyes open when she gets in - why because she was us to have a better life...

Take note get off you r lazy !!!! go to the bank get your overdraft cancelled and get a job...

With no job and dwindling savings most mainstream lenders will be falling overthemselves to give you money for this worthy item.

In fact, hold on, I will lend it to you........

I would love to be able to afford this high horse that everyone keeps going on about, but I think they are very expensive to keep.

£500 is an awful lot of money for an amp.
I bought my husband a nice, big and very loud Marshall MG50DFX.
It cost £69 on eBay (inc shipping). Perhaps you'd be better off investing in a second hand amp for the time being until you can afford a £500 amp!

I would consider actually landing a job in a function band before splashing out on kit - if you blow the £500 and then find that you can't land the work then you're stuck with a debt you can't service and an amp you have little use for. Perhaps consider a battery powered amp which you could use for busking - it should be a lot cheaper and at least that way you're getting some (hopefully) paid practice in, although be sure to check that it's legal where you live.
