Vendor won't let us view the property again until we sign the contract

The vendor has held up the sale to us for the last 3 months due to missing paperwork and other delays.
Now the paperwork is ready we have asked to view the property before we sign the contract to refresh ourselves and to measure the rooms.
The vendor is refusing to let us view again until we sign the contract and their solicitor has advised them such.
Someone pointed out to us that maybe they are hiding something. We don't think that is the case, simply they are trying to rush us.
Are we worrying about nothing - is it not usual for buyers to want to view just before signing? We haven't seen the property for 3 months so we kind of feel we need to see it.

I would always view just before exchange, to make sure the property is in the same condition as it was when I first saw it.
Yes, I think they have something to hide, and I do not believe a solicitor recommended this.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
just say we are not signing at all if you dont let us view"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Tell them that unless they agree, you'll pull out.0 -
Signing means nothing: what matters is when you exchange. So by all means visit your solicitor and autograph the draft contract, and then arrange your viewing and measuring. You can pull out without penalty until the two solicitors exchange contracts, at which point both parties are committed.
Yes, something might have happened to the property to make it less attractive, or perhaps the vendor wants to get on with her/his life rather than cleaning and tidying for yet another viewing. But if you want to see it again before you exchange, then that is your prerogative.0 -
Get your solicitor to advise the other side that the fastest route to exchange is for them to allow the viewing.0

They actually said after exchange we could view. I think it's a bit off to pull a stunt like this when all along their solicitor has mucked things up.
So far we haven't seen any paperwork for the property and now they have provided it they are trying to hurry us along. They want 2 weeks between exchange and completion and we want to complete by the end of the SDLT holiday which they knew about back last December, I think they will lose out on that one.0 -
Who is the party in a position to hand over tens, maybe hundreds of thousand of pounds here? Most certainly not the ruddy vendor. They either want to sell this property or they don't. Perhaps no-one has told them that buyers are rather thin on the ground right now.
I would most certainly be worried that they are hiding something by not allowing a second viewing. Good Lord, I've known people to do a second viewing before they've even made an offer.0 -

It will be a 3rd viewing but only because it's been 3 months since the 2nd one. We're talking 20 minutes max. :mad:0 -

There is virtually no point viewing after exchange since by then everything is committed.0 -
I alway insist on viewing before exchange. They could have ripped out all the fitting and fixtures and you would not know.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
