Reductions on the debt generally mean they know they can't enforce it.

Don't pay them a penny until they prove the debt is enforceable.

I think Barclaycard took over Egg. That's why it's showing as BC as the original creditor.

    Hi Sapnuwuf.

Moorcroft have been chasing me for over a year now about my Barclaycard & they are pathetic, they were ringing me 20-30 times a day at one point for a few months but I never answered after taking advice from the lovelies on here & they gave up!
He wasnt a Bailiff he was a debt collector who gets paid commission to get money from you!
They have only ever been to my house once and hammered on the door for a good 20 mins when i didnt answer he pushed a spiteful little note through the door saying 'THIS IS ABOUT YOUR CREDIT CARD DEBT VICTORIA! UNLESS YOU ANSWER THE DOOR I WILL NOT GO AWAY AND I WILL KEEP COMING BACK UNTIL YOU ANSWER' at the time i was really stressed out by it & i was pregnant too i was in floods of tears but to be honest i laugh about how pathetic he was now & hes never been back!
Do as others have suggested & write revoking them access to visit you & send it recorded so they cant say they didnt get it.
Theyve also recently started chasing me for an Egg card which is now Barclaycard. As Im on a DMP theres !!!!!! all they can do really & they know it! They still threaten though!
They are a bunch of Cowboys! Good luck.

  • Hello everyone can someone please help. I had taken out a personal loan 4and half years ago and stopped paying after 3 instalments due to reduncy and have not paid it back, I have been sent a letter by the bank to say they will be passing my debt onto Moorecroft debt recovery. A week later I get a letter from Moore croft saying that unless they hear anything back they start court proceedings. I am still not in a financial position to pay much back and with a new baby on the way, I feel so scared what they might do, I live with my wife who is worrying and being pregnant is not good for her. Can someone help me please.

It's most likely a threat to get you to engage with them. They are nothing to be scared of. They are full of hot air.

Are you in a position to pay something to it? Do you have other debts? You may want to ask StepChange, CAB or National Debtline (that would be my first choice here) for more advice.

However, you do have a second option, which is to call their bluff and continue as you are. They have around 18 months left to take court action. If they don't, the debt becomes 'statute barred' after 6 years of no payment/no written acknowledgement and cannot then be enforced.

If they do, then you can make an offer of payment under a court order.
  • Just recently started receiving calls from a number i now recognise as MOORCROFT which coincides with an email from British Gas about an unpaid gas bill i am still trying to sort out with British Gas from 5 months ago at a previous address. British Gas claim we owe approx £400 but have no record of our payments which we can prove via bank statements. No matter how i word my replies they will not acknowledge my request to show me our payments. Now they are saying our debt is with MOORCROFT. What should i do? I am just getting 10 or so calls a day at the moment but looking on this site i don't know whether or not to expect bailiffs. British Gas have obviously made a mistake. Should i just continue to ignore the calls? Thanks very much for any help/advice

If you paid and can easily prove it via bank statements then you could make a copy and send them to Moorcroft. Or you could sort it out directly with BG and get them to call off the hounds. Stop asking BG for proof you have paid, prove it yourself.

Or you can just ignore and put up with the calls and letters.
