Thanks.
Guess I will wait a week or two, last time Santander transferred my account it involved closing and opening a new account which took 2 months even with Head of Banking expediting the matter!Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
There is no introductory period. New and customers treated the same. Offer is staying. That is why they dropped the cash incentives as people were just rinsing it and leaving after 3 months.0

Just to balance out these doom mongers..I have had a bank account with Abbey/Santander for over 20 years - all trouble free.
The online account and banking app are great - as are the text alerts.
I would have no problem recommending them.
I felt the same until my account got frauded? Then the fun and games started. Needless to say - no longer with them idiots. HSBC alot better and more customer friendly. No offer, how good it seems could ever get me to go back to Santander!!!0 -
Siobhan789 wrote: »And can I just ask if lillypad and the other poster are employed by Santander why do they need to register, if they say something on here it's not allowed to be advised as per board rules so why does it matter if it comes from a employee or someone else, you would obviously double check before you sign up or leave.
I don't post here very often so am not an expert on how the board rules are interpretted, but the issue is one of not providing free advertising rather than being concerned about innacurate info. being given (although that could be a concern as well I guess). Post #23 of this thread did actually move the thread on by giving some figures but was also very much promoting the account (advertising). That is why I politely referred San Insider to the board rules (which he/she may not have been aware of) but chose not to report the post to the mods.0 -

People are being negative because they have experienced Santander's customer service in the past and don't really want to repeat the experience.
Maybe its changed now, I don't know, but I certainly won't be finding out for myself.0 -
Are you sure you only spend a total of £35 a month on gas/elec/council tax/water/mobile phones/tv/broadband/home phone? If so I would like to know where in the country you live so I can get in on some of the action.
Ooops, forgot about the £2 per month, but £235 per month is still good going.
Considerably less, in fact because the gas/elec and tv/broadband cashback is at 2%, not the 1% I think you've used.
Council tax is about £50/month (we're in Wandsworth)
Water is a tenner
That's 60p at 1% cashback
Gas/Elec is roughly £60
Broadband/phone/tv package is £27
£1.74 at 2% cashback
Mobile phone bills not included because we wouldn't pay for them from a joint account.
Total £2.34. Then subtract the £2 fee.
All of which I expect is pretty standard for a couple in a flat around here, because we could certainly cut back on the elec bills by not leaving the computers on standby so much, and the insulation's terrible.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -

FWIW it's actually 3% cashback on your broadband/phone/TV so that would be an extra 27p per month for you there, but still not a huge amount, and that relies on Santander correctly identifying all of your payments.0 -
Until they stop shennanigans like this, I'll ignore all their offers:

If you've ever had any problems with Santander, you'll understand why people are negative, They're not known for their "excellent customer service". :rotfl:0
