While everyone moans about the cost of insurance going up etc, I knew my rights and stood up for them, and might I say no heart attack !! So if you are happy with a corsa etc and don't complain, good for you, makes insurance cheaper for everyone else, but if you are entitled to something, I think the best approach is to stand firm but in the end its each to their own, and in the end I had fun with the cars I was loaned (2 Boxsters and an S Class Merc) and got my car back repaired and have been offered £500 compensation for the mistakes they made. So for all of the negativity re some of the responses posted on here, the outcome personally speaks volumes !!!
  • On Friday some idiot in has gone straight in my car, and pushed my car into another car. He has claimed liability for both cars, but my car looks like its a write off!!! Privalege my insurance company arranged with enterprize to hire me a courtesy car which was a Seat Exeo 2.0 Diesel. Since Saturday ive been on the phone to Privalege and Enterprize to tell them that Im not happy with the replacement car. The car that I did have was a Mondeo ST220 3.0 Petrol V6! Full leather Recaro heated seats, full spec! I said to them that they need to give me something more like for like on performance as that is what I was driving before the accident, and since it is not my fault Im now in a worst situation then before the accident. Now before you start... I understand that a car is to get you from A to B, but as a driving point of view and those that know cars, its a completely different car. Performance mainly, its embarrassing to drive. Privelage and enterprize keep passing me back and forth and they say because my car is a 55 plate, they have to put it in a lower category. But some people have said the age doesn't make a difference, and it should be down to performance. I don't know what to do, im being fussy yes.... but at the end of the day the accident wasnt my fault, and why should I be penalised even more for having an older car. I thought this is what you pay insurance for!!! Any help guys would be most appreciated

Just read all of this thread, some good points and debates raised, etc etc....
So just want to say, THANK YOU ALL ! :):) I've wrote my business plan now, and hoping the bank will sign off on the initial startup loan.

I will be opening a company "BEST INSURANCE EVER!!"
Plan will be to charge customers 10x the value of there car in some cases.
    Charge £3000+ in compulsary excesses....
oh, and in the Hire car/accident scenario, any customer or Third Party contact who needs a hire car, they will get a sh!ty banged up ford escort 1.4L, from 1990/1991.
Not like they need anything else is it ?
oh, and for those who are not working, you will be given a skateboard as a like for like replacement.....

    website soon to folllow :D:D:D

Treb, i would do the same as you..... without fail...
Someone hit my 200sx which is 10 years old, i dealt with other sides insurer, they offered a 'A grade hire car', Corsa or smaller...
I offered to break the guys laptop computer and replace it with an Etch-o-sketch, he said point taken....
I could have gone for executive or sports, but as i asked for 'D grade', doh! i got a mondeo, which i was happy with anyway.....

We all pay premuims, we all screwed, we all get the chance to pay a premuim which is 2 or 3 times the value of the car and this is law if you want to drive, etc etc...... So, why is it so bad when a consumer stands there ground against a greedy underwriter ?

Yeah but you don't have an image to portray. :rotfl:

(Btw I agree with you but couldn't help myself.)

I own a record label, so to an extent, I do have an image to portray, however my image is based on what myself and my team can and can’t do, and not on how much moneys worth of cars there are in the car park. I tend to keep the stuff until it’s got 150k-ish on it, then swap it for an ex-demo one (which happens to be around every 2 years). I’d say we have an average staff salary of around £60000, and an average non-company car value of around £8k (less than 3 months’ take-home for av. staff). Most of us just want something to get from A-B, and don’t care about how flashy it is.

I’m currently in another S-Max (a white ’61’ plate one) after an Audi A6, then a Q5, but would happily go for a smaller car with a manual gearbox if required, to avoid being an idiot by messing 2 insurance companies around. Again, I’m happier with Ford than Audi by miles (especially on customer service), and don’t really care what I have. I even ended up with an Octavia Scout last week, as my PA wanted 7 seats to move house. It has 4 wheels and an engine IMO.
