Yes but there is hardly anything,In last nights evening paper- there were 2.5 pages of jobs and this is for a massive city. Each job has hundreds of applicants-its really bad.

Papers have had their day with regards job adverts, why, in the current climate, would a company pay hundreds, if not thousands of ££s to place an advert in the paper, that may not be seen by that many people.

The internet is the way to go,upload a CV to CV library or similar, search on sites like Indeed or Monster, tell all your friends, relations, even the taxi driver, the barman everyone and anyone. Most jobs are found through "networking".

Do the self employed sales jobs not exist anymore?
I have done double glazing and "home improvements" in the past and you just needed a pulse to get them. How much you earned (if anything) was mainly down to yourself though.

Ah yes Monster, brilliant site. I set up to jobs within 10 mile radius and I get jobs from all over the UK. Inretail is the best yet, weekly notifications of jobs in Kuwait.

I see a lot of tele sales job, Its the type of thing you need to have the gift of the gab for, someone shy and reserved like myself wouldn't be cut out for it.

Is there anything stopping you working in Kuwait? An ex colleague works out there, and has an excellent standard of living.

I had an interview today, got another on Monday and 2 jobs to apply for in the paper today.

Considering there are 4,000 unemployed in my nearest town it doesn't sound that good.

Why doesn't it - is there any reason that the others are better than you? Don't think about the other candidates, you are the only one that you need to worry about.

Had the same thing with Monster too, the Job Centre one seems to be similar in suggesting jobs in other regions. I did find CV Library very good though, maybe skill specific but loads of calls from various agencies all with something suitable for me.

If you do post a cv there, adjust bits on a regular basis, nothing drastic, just change the odd word and then press "update" or whatever it's called, this seems to bump your CV up to the top again. Most people only check 1 or 2 pages of results on google or the like, no doubt agencies dont bother re checking cvs that have slipped down the list, so keep tweaking to stay on top.

As boobies said, be positive, they must like something they have seen to invite you for the interviews, do your research and go for it. Good luck.

a long time ago before i had ever experienced unemployment myself, someone i worked with told me about a friend who had been out of work for 5 years. i was very shocked. since then i have had many stints out of work and have met many unemployed people who have been unemployed for many years. so its not so shocking to me anymore. its just sad.
are these people not doing enough? well i guess alot maybe not doing as much as they could. however that does not mean they are being that way intentionally. or that they dont want to work. i also do think that if there were plenty of jobs around that they would have got a job even if they werent doing as much as they could to find one.
