I try to be as invisible as possible so I don't spoil your fun but I do have to make sure that the thread keeps to the rules (mainly so it doesn't get shut down, so for your sakes really, but also to protect MSE).
So yes I am watching, but then you know that, but hopefully it doesn't interrupt the flow or cause you all to feel uncomfortable.
I think the majority are happy you are here, I know you will let it wash over you but I am sorry there are a very small number that feel the need to be rude and condescending, stick them on the naughty step0 -
thanks for all your supportive comments, guys, it's much appreciated. RootedNomad has it pretty much spot on, your thread is very much above the parapet because of its nature and because there have been many reports about it in the past so it's already treading on thin ice.
I appreciate how important this thread is to so many of you so if I can help to keep it 'in line' and keep its profile lower by occasional deletes and reminders then things won't get reported and it benefits both you and MSE in general. I'm grateful for your understanding0 -

RootedNomad wrote: »The way I understand it is that the boards are self-moderating with the BGs "keeping watch". The only reason a thread gets raised above the parapet is if people report posts. If this happens too often and in relation to the same issue, the admin team have to get involved. If they have to get involved too often on a single thread on a single board (and there are loads and loads) then they may take the decision that this is not an effective use of MSE resources and close the thread down, no questions asked.
RF has been taking extra special care with the elite to try and help prevent there being any issues that may cause members to report posts and risk closing the thread (from use of bad language to use of flashing images, whatever). For this, I think RF is a supporter going above and beyond.
I am wondering if the reason we may appear to have less latitude than on other threads is because this one is already way above the parapet and as such is a little more vulnerable. I believe RF is trying to minimise that vulnerability.
thanks for explaining, yes there were a few sticky points where there were alot of arguments and trolls on the thread and i can imagine alot of reporting was going on at the time (around the time of the electrical glitch i think when redfox first joined us?):AGRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED
