Morning!
Thought id better showmy cyber face!
Im livid. About a month ago my car would intermittantly not start, give it a few mins, it started no probs. took to garage, said it was battery or alternater. He tested battery, it was very low so they fitted a new one. Everything was ok for a few days but then it started to cut out at traffic lights or when i was in stationary traffic. Took it back to garage, said alternator was on way out.
The car was also making a grinding noise as the air con starts automatically when i start car. Took it back garage, said it was a bearing on air con unit. It couldnt be disconected because it helps drive the starter motor and power steering....was given quote of £500. Said couldnt afford it just yet. Guy in garage dcided he could do it half price if i could get him a new tv via OH job! (this is a ford garage not a back street sort) told him i couldnt because OH would get sack. He said as long as i turned air con off when i started the car, it would be fine.
Last week, it wouldnt start when i had collected lil ones from school. Called AA. They tried to jump start it ( automatic) only for flames to shoot out from under the bonnet! She disconnected everything and i got car towed to the other garage in the village, another Ford dealership ( never understand why there is 2 Ford garages in such a small village!)
Took them 3 days to decide it was starter motor. I sour ed my own part 75% cheaper than they could get! They finally called me today, 8 days after having the car. Part is fitted, but car wont start. Its now the air con compressor. Dug a little deeper with guy, told him about battery and the offer from their other garage. I thought guy was going to have a fit right there on the phone. He informed me that if the guy at first garage had diagnosed problem in first place i wouldnt have needed the starter motor that cost £75! nor the battery £80. The battery was drained because the air con comp was not functioning, put too much strain on starter, burnt it out, literally.
Manager for two garages called me back. Was soooo apologetic. Refunding me battery cost and taking £75 off labour costs, leaving me £20 to pay, plus is regassing air con, although im sure this is something that is included with the work im having done. Guy from other garage is getting a written warning.
I feel kind of bad, but as i pointed out, if he could half the price for a favour, i felt i was being overcharged in first place!
Should be ready friday as we are moving house sat! Had no car for 8 days, live in middle of no where, thank goodness for stashes. Got no boxes to pack stuff in, cant get to any shops for the carpet cleaner i had booked so have spent all day today scrubbing the carpets by hand and have blisters the size of baseballs! Carpets look amazing though. To top it off, all 3 children are off school with the lurgy so am not getting much done in the day!
Consoling myself in bed with some jerry springer, (its good to know my life is better thansome!) with the aid of a lemon meringue easter egg. Well im sure i read on the packaging that they dont travel well.
Right, think ive made up for my lack of posts. Back off to page 105 to catch up.Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.0
