    Morning!
Thought id better showmy cyber face!

Im livid. About a month ago my car would intermittantly not start, give it a few mins, it started no probs. took to garage, said it was battery or alternater. He tested battery, it was very low so they fitted a new one. Everything was ok for a few days but then it started to cut out at traffic lights or when i was in stationary traffic. Took it back to garage, said alternator was on way out.
The car was also making a grinding noise as the air con starts automatically when i start car. Took it back garage, said it was a bearing on air con unit. It couldnt be disconected because it helps drive the starter motor and power steering....was given quote of £500. Said couldnt afford it just yet. Guy in garage dcided he could do it half price if i could get him a new tv via OH job! (this is a ford garage not a back street sort) told him i couldnt because OH would get sack. He said as long as i turned air con off when i started the car, it would be fine.
Last week, it wouldnt start when i had collected lil ones from school. Called AA. They tried to jump start it ( automatic) only for flames to shoot out from under the bonnet! She disconnected everything and i got car towed to the other garage in the village, another Ford dealership ( never understand why there is 2 Ford garages in such a small village!)
Took them 3 days to decide it was starter motor. I sour ed my own part 75% cheaper than they could get! They finally called me today, 8 days after having the car. Part is fitted, but car wont start. Its now the air con compressor. Dug a little deeper with guy, told him about battery and the offer from their other garage. I thought guy was going to have a fit right there on the phone. He informed me that if the guy at first garage had diagnosed problem in first place i wouldnt have needed the starter motor that cost £75! nor the battery £80. The battery was drained because the air con comp was not functioning, put too much strain on starter, burnt it out, literally.
Manager for two garages called me back. Was soooo apologetic. Refunding me battery cost and taking £75 off labour costs, leaving me £20 to pay, plus is regassing air con, although im sure this is something that is included with the work im having done. Guy from other garage is getting a written warning.
I feel kind of bad, but as i pointed out, if he could half the price for a favour, i felt i was being overcharged in first place!
Should be ready friday as we are moving house sat! Had no car for 8 days, live in middle of no where, thank goodness for stashes. Got no boxes to pack stuff in, cant get to any shops for the carpet cleaner i had booked so have spent all day today scrubbing the carpets by hand and have blisters the size of baseballs! Carpets look amazing though. To top it off, all 3 children are off school with the lurgy so am not getting much done in the day!
Consoling myself in bed with some jerry springer, (its good to know my life is better thansome!) with the aid of a lemon meringue easter egg. Well im sure i read on the packaging that they dont travel well.

Right, think ive made up for my lack of posts. Back off to page 105 to catch up.

There will be a book price for every job in a Ford garage and most other dealerships. If the guy was offering to do the job cheaper for you, then he was no doubt going to be doing the job off the books, thereby reducing the labour costs and enabling either Ford parts, obtained at cost, or after market parts to be fitted.
A dealership will always use Ford parts and this is why you will often be able to source cheaper parts yourself, by buying after market parts but this will also mean that they will not be covered under warranty from Ford.
The reason the guy has probably received a written warning, is not your fault. He would probably have received it for not booking the job correctly on the books and thereby losing profit for the dealership. Ford set certain sales and profit targets (as I'm sure most car manufacturers do) and the garage would have to meet these for Ford to allow them to continue running their business as a Ford dealership.

The reason there may be 2 dealerships in such a small area, is purely because both businesses have requested and been approved by Ford to run as main dealers. These companies are not created by Ford and are independant businesses, which is why you can often see dealerships change.

 Your birthday perhaps?...... well they do say that all the best people are aries  and all the greatest ones are born on 27th March ;)

Well most of the great ones are born on the 27th (are you trying to butter me up or is that freakily your birthday as well?).

I actually met someone who was born on the same day as me and we were like chalk and cheese. Not the kind of person I would want as a friend nor as an ememy

If there was an award for the "most amazing first post of all time", I reckon you would be in with an excellent chance of winning it with that reply. :T :T :T

That said, the fact you never mentioned a T's glitch would probably lose you a few votes from the more 'hard core' of the elite 11+. :p:p:p

    Interesting info, thanks.

btw, I suffer from a couple of things on that list and don't like it. I'd hate to have the whole lot. :(

Not buttering you up :D I had a teacher at school with the same birthday, he was mean, but very easily distracted, so didn't get much work done in his lessons :rotfl:
Also had a male friend with the same birthday just 2 years older than me who I almost had a relationship with once, we were very similar, so glad I didn't pursue that one :rotfl:
And I still know a girl who was born in the same hospital, on the same day only hours apart from me. Our parents became quite good friends for a while and we went to school together. A few years ago she took over rather briefly as landlady of one of my local pubs. She had a party in the pub, and a lock in to celebrate her birthday, so I went along and got free drinks all night just because we shared the same birthday :D

    Mr 3Dogs is coming home today (Wednesday) :j :j :j :j :j :j :j

Our S/World Consultant took me over to see him yesterday as still having problems with the van and she wanted to see him. She had told the members at the 3 classes on Monday and everyone was very concerned, so she got them to sign a big card and made a collection to get him a gift from them all. He was delighted and brought to tears reading the lovely messages on the card, and thrilled with his iPod she had bought from the collection . She had downloaded some music he likes, about 200 tunes including Free Bird his favourite, but space for another 2000 or so she said. Plus there is something being delivered at home today

Anyway the doc came round when I was there and said he could come home today but would still have the drainage bag on the abcess wound, and would have to go back first thing next Tuesday to see him in clinic to have it removed then. They had taken out the clips/staples earlier but had left one as the wound was open there. The doc said to take it out and it would need a bit padding but would be ok like that

He would also need to come back to see him in clinic in 6 weeks and that the oncologist would be in touch with him in due course to discuss chemo, but that Mr 3Dogs would have to decide on whether to have that at the time, after being given the facts

I asked if he could have hospital transport home which the nurse said he would arrange. I am taking the van over to our mates for him to fix at 9 am this morning and his wife will run me home, then I can continue getting house ready for his return :D

Monday night I did manage to get the furniture move finished in the bedroom. I moved and sorted 'the pile' from one corner, emptied my larger wardrobe, moved that wardrobe to where 'the pile' had been, put clothes back into it. Took out the drawers in a chest of drawers, moved the frame to other side of room, and put back the drawers, though I have yet to go through the things in those drawers. I started doing it around 10 pm and finished at ..................... 3.30 am   At one point, when I had moved the furniture but all the 'pile', and contents were piled high on the bed, all I wanted to do is go to bed and sleep but I had to work my way through everything, hanging clothes back up and sorting through everything again, and finding a place for it. I wouldn't say that the bedroom is tidy, as we still have too much stuff in there, but the furniture is all where I want it, making it easier for Mr 3Dogs ............. and I have 8 black bin liners of clothes, handbags, etc out the front to dispose of, a recycling bin full of cardboard, etc and our normal bin is full too ................ and I still have stuff in the house ready to throw out too. I also have quite a pile of things that can go back to car-boot mate for selling. When it is all gone, things will look better still :D

I haven't told Mr 3Dogs that I have been doing the bedroom, so hope he is pleasantly surprised when he gets home :D though I know I will get wrong for doing so much :o and I do ache all over, but am pleased with myself for actually doing it :j :j

When I got back from visiting Mr 3Dogs, I had something to eat and then text the family and friends to update them, and I was so tired, I was nodding off as I typed :o so I went for a nap at 6 pm ...................... and woke just after Midnight   so just had something to eat so I could take some pain-killers, updating on here, and now I am going back to bed ;)

I am suffering withdrawl symptoms with not having time to read the thread - I normally read every single post but have only posted my update for last few days and not had the time to catch up at all :(:(
    :( Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12 :( 3Dogs'Mam 31-3-13 :(

Hi all. Thought I would wait til I caught up, before posting and now I expect everyone is in bed.
Thanks to OP on ebay code today, used on a pressie for my nephew..great timing..thanks again.
WELL DONE to all with the 1p finds today, :j:j I won't be venturing out in my local area as I share this with Tinyshoes and so I have a feeling I won't find anything..lol. But you never know, I might have a little bit of luck when I do my normal shop on Friday and find some restocked. I'm not too worried anyway, as it's probably best I don't go getting more cheap chocolate. It didn't take my family very long to get through the 34p CDM's...just I know my 11 year old DD would like the galaxy promises...but again NO..better not to have chocolate.

Wanted to say to the lady (sorry forgot username) with the child...argument problem..I know how you feel. I went through a similar thing with one of my neighbours that I used to be really friendly with. I used to look after her 2 children and she looked after my DD in the summer. My DD is a few years older than them though, so she would get bored. My neighbour/friend got funny with me all of a sudden and didn't seem to want to talk to me much. So I text her one day and asked if there was something wrong...to which she text back and I was so shocked at her answer...as she said that she felt my daughter intentionly bullied her daughter and that my DD was a brat. The problem with my DD is she wears her heart on her sleeve and always says/shouts what she feels, so she always appears to be the one making a fuss, causing the arguments. My DD is no angel but she is so caring. I was really upset at the harsh words and that the neighbour didn't come to me and try to talk it over like adults. After that I hardly spoke to her, I felt bad that this person was looking after my DD feeling that way about her. Sorry babbling on, but I just sympathise. Luckily I have a lovely friend that has a DD same age and when they fall out, we don't get involved.
