  • Can someone let me know how long it took for their handbook to come and for payment to be taken from their account.

I took out the policy over the phone with them 3 weeks ago. Despite an email to them and receiving a reply saying I was covered (and they gave me my policy number,) I still haven't received anything. Just wondered if I need to be more patient before contacting them again.

Nice to know about the changing tyres thing. Something I know how to do but am just not strong enough to undo those damn wheel nuts!

They do only pay up to 45 quid for Home Starts however [I think that's the amount - from memory]

I know it's gone up to £65, but is this the amount they will pay for all the work, or to have it towed if necessary? I'm either being stupid or the wording is not good!

    thanks

I joined on the 15th of May. I've phoned about 4 times and I'm still waiting for the documents. (They took the money from my credit card about 10 days ago). I'm getting slightly concerned!!

You don't need the documents. As long as you have your policy number and the telephone number to call for service, you can claim.

    Hi,

Just looking at renewing b/d cover. Autoaid gets lots of good press (here) - does £34 cover homestart. If not, how much extra is it? Also, is car or driver covered?

    Thanks
  • Just to let people know that they took the money from my account a few days ago (3.5 weeks from taking out the policy) and about 2 days later my handbook and stuff came. Just happy I have the paperwork as I do like to double check what I have signed up for. Also if I broke down, although I had the policy number I wouldn't have had the claim form.

To old slaphead. Autoaid covers the car that you are travelling in. It also covers homestart but if I remember correctly they only cover homestart costs up to £65 (Sorry paperwork in car.)

Home start is included, however for that service only, it is limited to m£65.

Policy holder and LEGAL spouse are covered for any vehicle, (car, car derived van) up to 2500 cc and motorbikes above 100cc(?)

Yes, I just had them confirm that, however their document does not read like it:-
The vehicle – a saloon car, hatchback, estate car,
car derived van, motorcycle or motorised caravan under
2.5 tons gross vehicle weight and with an engine
capacity of no more than 2500 cc

It reads to me that all the vehicles mentioned have a limit of 2500 cc.

I think they need better punctuation and clarity.

Have been reading all these reviews and will probably go with Autoaid myself.( Been driving 6 months without cover, very silly )

I'm just worried in the case of having to call them out if the recovery driver/repair man won't provide a receipt as mentioned earlier.

Don't want to get into an argument by the roadside with my car at his mercy especially if it needs some overnight work!

    Can anyone allay my fears?

    Cheers
