Im in south Wales, I've looked at the Coventry one but I'm worried about never having to be able to go in branch.

Right ,ive never really had to go to a branch. Why would you need to , when you can do all your transactions on line over the phone etc, You can send cheques to them in the post.

    http://www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk/contact-us/Branch-Finder/Branch-Finder.aspx

    thats there branch list

If your in wales why dont you use the welsh building society!!!
    http://www.principality.co.uk

That would seem like the obvious choice to me

    or another welsh building society

    http://www.monbs.com/ The monmouthshire

So you have branch access there

You could also try the Swansea building society

With regards to think banking there is no need to pay for your banking!!!

With lots of choices out there you are spoilt for choice. Dont forget with the building societies listed there is absolutely no credit check, only an ID check and if you have ID with you, you will not have a problem

Have you tried Co-operative Bank's offshore Pathfinder account? This is a savings account based in Guernsey that offers a debit card and direct debits (but a dire rate of interest). As a savings account, they might accept this account where a current account might be rejected. Full UK access.

Also as a heads up, the cifas data that you can see states whether you're the subject of a protective registration etc. I don't believe it will show any data that lenders have put, as this could be tipping off. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will shout up.
