Unable to get ANY bank account- desperate for help!

I am not bankrupt, no fraud issues and one confirmed address... Yet no bank will touch me!

I have a DMP so I am in debt to around £8,000.

I've tried Barclays cash card
Co-op cash minder
Natwest basic bank account
HSBC basic account
Nationwide

I'm seriously loosing hope, how come I can't even get accepted for a basic account?!

Unfortunately everytime you are refused an account another "footprint" appears on your credit history. I had the same issue when I had to give up work to become my Mother's carer. I opened and ISA just so I had somewhere to pay in cheques.
  • I need an account for my DD's, I just can't understand why I can't get a basic one?

Where have you put your money before this?
  • Santander but I have to leave them as I have debt with them.

Yorkshire B/S cash transactor, failing that Savings card or the likes of think banking.

It is concerning that you can't even get any form of basic account - are the banks that you're applying to your creditors?

  • Will have a look now, thanks.
Suprising is one way of looking at it- embarrassing is another. My mum has offered to give me an old bank account of hers but it's not something I want: my mum paying my DD's and me unable to even open a basic account.

I bet you can go to your local small building society along with ur id and open one saturday morning.

If you are in the midlands try the coventry ba moneymanaget account. In fact you can open it online and don't need to be near a branch
