Leaving O2
Hi all
My contract end on 18th April with O2 and after 12 years (10 as a contract customer) I have decided to leave them - too many problems over billing in the last few months.
Do I have to give them 30 days notice? I changed to a Business Contract 2 years ago, but I wish to keep the same number.
Also, has anyone any experiences with Tesco Mobile?? now I know that they work off the O2 network - to be honest they have the best coverage in my home and work areas, but tesco seem to be offering much better alternatives, both of tariffs and phones than O2 themselves. I'm wondering are they too good to be true?
Look forward to your responses

Would be interested in folks comments on Tesco/O2 too! Deciding between VF and them.David.0

If you mean the signal, it is better to check personally.
If you mean the CS, VF are notorious for their useless and incompetent telephone CS. Just search the board for 'vodafone'.0 -
Yes. However, if you want to port the number and ask for PAC, this will be the same as giving a notice provided that you port the number within 30 days before the PAC expires.
Just to point out that for business contracts, the notice and PAC arrangements MAY be different. The OP should consult their contract as Ofcom consumer rules do not apply.0 -

I don't know about O2, but certainly with VF business there's no difference, once you're out of contract you simply ask for a PAC and off you can go.David.0 -
Part of the reason why Tesco is much cheaper (and better in my opinion) is because they don't offer you services that you don't necessarily need. For example, o2 offers customers priority moments and priority tickets but even if you don't use this service, you're still effectively paying for it through your monthly cost.0

So are you with Tesco/O2?David.0 -
Yes the service is good with the tesco also uk based and on O2.
I have been with them for a long time without any problem.
If not sure take up a sim monthly to try them first.0 -

Thanks for that, I've at last been made a decent SIMO offer by Vodafone, but there's a place I regularly visit where the VF signal is almost non-existant, but I know O2 is fine there.
And although the VF deal is good, the Tesco deal is better so I think I'm going to initially do the 3 month 500mins, 5000texts, 1GB data deal, and if everything's ok I'll switch to the 12 month deal which gives 750 mins.David.0 -
Thanks to everyone for your advice.
I called into Tesco yesterday, and was given the following tariffs, both based on a Samsung Galaxy SII on a 24 month contract:
O2 Mobile
300 mins
Unlimited texts
500 MB
£21.50
Tesco Mobile
750 mins
5000 texts
500 MB
£50 handset
£25.00
Although its slightly more expensive, I'm swaying very much towards the Tesco tariff, cause ideally I would need about 600 mins per month and the next tariff up was £31.
