Personally, I wouldn't complain about postage charges being too high if I was getting a decent deal anyway. It amazes me that sellers get criticised for doing things that retailers do all the time.
The only time I've complained is when i bought a few dvds and no postage discount was offered, they weren't even individually wrapped but the postage was half of what I paid. Thankfully the buyer was good and refunded a nice chunk of it. To be honest though, I was more concerned with them being thrown in a bag with lack of protection than the actual cost.
eBay has a facility to make sure sellers price their items reasonably and to visibly measure buyer satisfaction. If that system was used by some retailers they would probably reconsider some postage costs."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

But people do go back to these retailers. I shopped at Sendit recently even though I deplore their shipping charges (£1.99.... PER ITEM!). I shopped there because even after delivery charges, they were the cheapest around. I don't agree with the 1.99 per item charge, it's ridiculous, but I got a good deal in the end and I am happy.
Rating someone down because the postal charges were a bit high despite them getting a bargain is pretty ridiculous. Sometimes I think these changes made by ebay over the last couple of years means sellers have to be all things to all men, and it's really not fair.0 -

So if I asked you know whether you could recommend using sendit and if their postage cost is very good, what would you say?
That is what ebay will be asking the buyer, not whether they think the total price is good, but exactly how fair do they rate the post and packing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And that is exactly the problem, it's unfair in some cases to rate p&p charges alone. Something retailers don't have to put up with but ebay sellers do.0 -
I like high delivery charges when I am buying, people are so put off by them that I can often get items cheap - including the charge.0

Hi OP,
I can sympathise with your plight, but the more you sell on ebay, you WILL realise people love to complain, I personally wont bid on an item that has high delivery because Im a seller and charge for as close to the postage price as I can.
I regard the packaging as my responsibility as a seller. I also state in my descriptions that if the bidder finds my postage costs unfair to please mail me before payment.
Hopefully you can find a quick resolution to your plight and wish you the best in the future!

Some people on here think £4 for an item + £1 p&p is a bargain - but £1 for the same item with £3 p&p is a rip-off.
How do you reason with folk like that? You can't - you are wasting your time.

I have sold and bought, and would be a bit miffed if you charged me that much in relation to actual cost. Also you can get strong plastic bags suitable for sending clothing for about 10-15p per bag! I would leave you a positive re the item if I was happy with it, but would comment on postage and mark you down on stars. Have had people do the same to me and now when I sell, which isn't often, I don't charge much over p and p actual costs/10p for bag.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

To buy something for 10-15p I would have to drive about 30 miles round trip.
My local post office doesnt selling things like that and I am not an ebay shop I am just a person selling my old clothes.0 -

You can also buy the bags on ebay. That's where I get them from. I personally wouldn't buy any stationery items from the post office due to the cost.:hello:
