i sent them a email asking for pictures, but in return they want my name and address as they say they reply to all correspondence in writing. now i dont want to do this as then they will have my details and it will hold me liable for it, i dont care if they pay to get my details from DVLA. but apperently this law of theirs just came in to action from 1st october 2012 that all vehicles must be parked clearly within parking lines. this is b******t guys. if i ignore then wont i get summoned to court??

Look, this is a scam and you can simply ignore it! There is no new law about parking on white lines !!!!!!!

Forgive me for saying so but because you are falling for the con you don't seem up for option (ii) = appealing to the PPC and POPLA, as explained by bazster just above your post. That would involve giving them the driver's details (so what?). But I don't think you are angry enough about the scam - instead I think you are too scared by it to cope with a robust appeal. Unless I am wrong?

So - if I am right, choose option (i) then and just ignore them from now on. There will be letters and possibly emails now they have your email addy. But then so do Nigerian phishing emailers and you don't send them money or get scared about that scam, do you?

what you need to do is read the NEWBIES sticky at the top of the forum index. If you need further advice after this you need to start a new thread of your own as we work on the basis of 'one case, one thread' so advice doesn't become confused and/or we have a complete free for all with any number of random cases being tagged on.

And this thread is well over 2 years old (pushing 3 years old) and a great deal has changed in this time. It's rather pointless working on the basis of information from 2 years ago, especially given the major changes in the law appertaining to private parking arrangements.

The advice given in this thread (which started in February 2012) is most definitely NOT the advice we give since the introduction of the new law - The Protection of Freedoms Act (October) 2012.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Sorry.
I've been looking for the new thread tab but cannot see it.
How do I post new thread. I've read how to do it but just not setting the tab.

Go to forum index, one page back from this one and just above the thick green line over the list of threads (top l/h side) there's a blue button 'New Thread', use that.

But you do need to read the NEWBIES sticky first as everything you need is there. A huge amount of work has gone in to preparing it for newbies to help them through the process, as we can't keep typing the stuff over and over again dozens of times every day. So please do the reading first, come back if there's something that's really not clear in the sticky.

    Hi all.
I got a parking ticket last night in bawtry.
I've not parked there at night for a long time and it used to be free after a certain time. I'm sure. (I arrived at 7pm) It is a pay and display car park may I add.
So I parked up and walked across the road to a restaurant. Came back a couple of hours later to a parking ticket from excel parking.
Now reading all the threads on excel I'm thinking I don't have to pay it.
But I suppose I was in the wrong by not checking.
    What should I do???
It's not one of the famous Bawtry 'excess charges' is it? You need to start a new thread but you are on someone else's so obviously the Blue Button isn't here!

Come on you MUST have found your way to page one of the forum by now, surely. Try looking down the page bottom right 'Forum Jump' (click GO).
