I drove by the other day and it has been tidied up etc, worth a look me thinks and a phone call to get them to show you round.....

My fianceand I recently visited mains castle to discuss our wedding. When we arrived we could not find an entrance to the castle and after hunting around found an open doorway and a dishevelled man came to great us, odiously not remembering who we were. Behind him followed his daughter who took charge of the wedding planning and showed us around the castle. After the tour we chatted about the plans and she was extremely pushy for a deposit and wanted us to book right away, when we asked about catering and a disco we were told it was best to organise it ourselves...not much help planning there then....
We asked to view the bridal suite which was advertised only to be told that it is not ready and should hopefully be ready by September which is not much use for an August wedding.
Coincidentally we bumped into two business men outside the grounds, who told us they have had dealings with the castle, they warned us off having anything to do with the castle as the owner was sequestrated some time ago and best not to have dealings with them as they only accept cash up front.
I post this reply as a warning to anyone thinking about having their wedding there as I do not wish them to be disappointed.0 -
Mains Castle Dundee would like to take this opportunity to respond to the very damaging and unjustified comments made by POPPYPEN.
I am the "disheveled (hateful) man" odiously mentioned in the post and would be very interested to learn why someone, unless they had a vested interest in a rival business, would post such odious comments.
The "daughter" who allegedly took resposibility for the wedding planning is my wife and partner. We do all our own in house catering at Mains Castle and it would not be in her interest to advise potential clients to source their own catering.
As to POPPYPEN coincidentally bumping into 2 businessmen in the middle of a park in Dundee and whom, coincidentally divulged the cash up front scenario and the sequestration of the owner beggers belief.
Mains Castle had been closed for more than 1 year prior to my wife and myself taking on the commitment and responsibility as the new owners of the business and to date have held many happy and successful weddings and events.
I post this response not as a warning to POPPYPEN but as a thank you to all who read this and i am sure they will agree that POPPYPEN'S post is a load of POPPYCOCK.0
