Glad to help Violetta! I'm not a proffessional wedding attendee, honest! But I just counted up, I've been to about 30 weddings in my 31 years of life! LMAO in the past 5 years i've been to 8. One this year and next year i have 4 to go to!!! Big family, and lots of friends!

I'd say i was lucky but every wedding costs a fortune (gifts, outfits, drinks, taxis!).

Hope you settle on a place that gives you a lovely and stress free day! (and is reasonably priced!)

i might be a bit late putting in my tuppence but have you had a look at the mains castle? it's in the park just off the kings way beside fintry, stuffed if i can remember the name and i used to be there so very often  It's a stunning setting for photos and things afterwards, gorgeous gardens out the back and it's a traditional looking stone castle so great for photos on inside. IT's been a lot of years since I spent any time there ( in my childhood!) but it shouldn't be terribly expensive. and if you fancy a claim to fame it's where lorraine kelly had her wedding reception.

Not too late at all lynsayjane, still very much at early planning stage , think it's in Caird Park trying to have a look for info online and not turning anything up to date. It shut down last year (the restaurant) but not sure if it's opened up again? The quest continues......

  • Not sure how it would be for a wedding but Murrayshall Hotel just outside Scone is gorgeous. Ive stayed there a few times. Food is fab, rooms are gorgeous and the grounds would be stunning for photos.

A friend of mine had his daughters and sons weddings in there...said it was great, guests were impressed etc. Most Dundonians have never seen Mains Castle (I'd recognise it but have never been inside)

    Hi guys,
has anyone been to Mains castle recently (violetta did you get in touch?)? I'm now organising a 20th anniversary party for my mum and stepdad and have thought about having it there. I'm in aberdeen and so it's hard to actually view any venues and since it's a surprise it might be spoiled if I ask my mum to have a look!
