Wedding Venue Ideas

I have decided to make an honest man of my oh (highland) but not sure where to get married, I wondered if anyone had any ideas of somewhere nice in the Dundee area?
Did have a look around the West Park Centre and it looks quite good.
Any advice appreciated also any info re somewhere you wouldn't recommend I'd be grateful.

What kind of venue are you looking for? Do you want a hotel or a hall or somethign different? I've been to 4 weddings in thre Queens Hotel on the Perth Road. They are very competant, nice rooms and you can get married and have the reception in the same place. Also for photos they take you across the road to the university gardens, which are lovely.

I got married in the Apex City Quay hotel last year and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Although the hotel itself is lovely it's just a pity the staff and service isn't as great!!
I think you can also get married up in the observatory (http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/mills/main.htm) which I think would be nice!!

A friend of mine got married in the Hunting Tower, I think it is fairly close to Dundee. It sounded nice, but I didn't get an invite.

Thanks everyone will check out your suggestions, think we would like the service and reception in the same place, somewhere nice but not too dear. I'd love to get married outside but weather can't really be relied on up here.

I agree the service in the Apex is awful, and although the hotel is nice and modern it doesn't rate highly on my idea of a pretty wedding venue.

I know someone from work was offered a deal at the Latham Hotel (in Letham) for less than 20 quid a head for three courses, but the guy drinks there regularly,so it might not be available for everyone.

The red house in Coupar Angus is lovely. The Enverdale used to be great too, haven't been there for a while.

My s-i-law got married at the Marriot Dalmahoy outside Edinburgh last year, and it was fantastic. Shame we don't have the equivalent nearby.

Congrats on the forthcoming nuptials. We went to Vegas and didn't regret a minute of it, even six years on.;)

Try contacting Lands of Loyal in Alyth - hence the name! it is an amazing place, the couple who run it are a bit nutty, but absolutely fantastic, it's a gorgeous setting, there's only 14 rooms so you basically take over the whole hotel, and I think it's not that expensive - I'm not on commission, I used to live down the road from it! And you get married standing at the bottom of the massive staircase, which is so impressive!

I know someone who got married at the Enverdale in Coupar Angus and said it was really good. Huntingtower is also a great venue.

Scone Palace? I'm sure you can get married there? Glamis? Castleton Hotel near Glamis is also wonderful.

Thanks alyth it looks gorgeous but I checked the Lands of Loyal website and it's a bit dearer than I was planning as is Glamis Castle will check the others when I get a chance.

  • My brother had his reception in the old boat down by the Apex Hotel - is it called the Frigate? They hired outside caterers and band - so that can be to your own budget. And the boat was great for dancing! I suppose you could also get married there if the minister agrees.
