  • Glossop/Hadfield/Padfield.

you've got the best of both worlds then; semi-rural living, and only 30-45mins on train into city centre.

Having driven around it last night, I have to wonder how what is one of the Norths most prosperous major citys has such a run down slumbmatic outskirts, mile after mile of derelict boarded up buildings and empty shops.
    Its a mess !

I'm from Eccles originally and the state of it now... it's depressing.

Salford City Council has always had its eye on its heartland and concentrates resources there. Eccles, Little Hulton, Cadishead all allowed to decay.

    Where were you last night?

We went in via salford to beat the traffic and that was quite tidy, came out via northern quarter and oldham road to the 627

I took the "teenager" to see ramstein or whatever they call them, could have been worse, I could have had to sit through the concert.

Stalybridge / Mossley - Near the hills plenty of transport links - only takes 15 mins to center from Stalybridge . Restaurants and pubs are okay at weekends .Ashton has a range of shops which are local - 10 minute walk from the bridge or 2 - 3 bus stops .
Also the tram is coming to Ashton in the future .

Further field is Glossop but transport is half hourly then - But pubs are busy etc and more hilly .

I just google mapped Oldham Road- looks like Beirut!

I can't talk, I live in Altrincham, they should have shops there that just sell stuff to board up your windows, would do a roaring trade!
