Hello all
Me and my boyfriend are thinking of moving to an area outside of Manchester City centre and wondered if you had any suggestions on good areas especially if property is cheaper.
To give you some some guidelines, we do not have children nor do we intend to, so schools are not a priority. We would like access to a park, local shops, pubs & restaraunts but at the same time we would like it to be semi rural. We would not like to be miles & miles away from the City centre but I have a car and if there is a local train station then all the better.
Is this too much to ask? Look forward to your replies.

South Manchester fits your description: disbury, cheadle, gatley, heaton mersey are a few suggestions though they arent the cheapest. If you are willing to live further out cheshire is more rural.0

South Manchester would fit the bill but is likely to be fairly expensive.
In terms of North Manchester, a couple of small places that might be worth looking at are Littleborough and Smithy Bridge. Both at the foot of the Pennines so semi-rural but have plenty of pubs and restaurants around. Also, they are on the Leeds to Manchester railway line so you can be in the centre of Manchester in 25 minutes. Driving into Manchester would take about 45 minutes.0 -

Also, Bury has come up as cheap, what is it like there?0

How about tottington or ramsbottom? Both nice places, in the countryside but with easy access to bury and a tram link to Manchester.0

Altrincham, I'll lend you a cup of sugar.'' Ok Marge, if anyone asks, you require 24-hour nursing care; Lisa's a clergyman; Maggie is seven people and Bart was wounded in Vietnam ''0

Sale is also good, same as Altrincham, good for trams, we are in Hale Barns, nice and close to the motorway but semi rural at the same time, good mix of pubs, restaurants, local shops etc.
Good luck in your move and wherever you chose.'' Ok Marge, if anyone asks, you require 24-hour nursing care; Lisa's a clergyman; Maggie is seven people and Bart was wounded in Vietnam ''0 -
