Giving up Money for Lent

Well after a convo with Peaches,
I was thinking of a nickname for us all "The Unnecesaries" sp?!
ok so we're thinking week commencing 16th April for launch?thats a week off from this challenge, starts on a monday, so bit cheeky we're getting a week and a bit off
That suits me down to the ground, that date does :T It is the day my visitors go home after a weekend with us and also the day the kids go back to school - so at least one week on the school holidays I wont have to say to them that I am NOT spending ANY money :rotfl:
My DD asked me the other day when we I be able to start spending money again? "7 April. why?" I asked. "Well, she said it is now 2 o'clock and I haven't had any dinner yet" (we were out paying for the holiday!!!). We then had a discussion about whether buying her a sausage roll for 48p constituted as spending money as it was food. I decided that I couldn't let my little one go hungry so used some of the food money to buy her a sausage roll. As I am paying the lady, she asked me whether I felt bad about spending the money as she knew I really wasn't allowed. I said yes and asked her did she feel bad about me spending the money and she said ....... no!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: Kids don't you just love em?When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
kids?? Professionally I love them but in reality???:rotfl: :mad:0

Wow TurnaroundSue, you are interpreting this challenge more strictly than me if you thought twice about buying a hungry child a sausage roll!
I spent £4.50 on icecreams today, for my children plus two of their friends.
I did think twice, but I don't want this challenge to impact negatively on my children, they get few enough treats as it is and we were having a lovely outing so I bought them anyway.
It was the first weekend in two months when I haven't had a huge deadline hanging over me and I enjoyed it so much - did some long overdue housework and today went on a walk up Box Hill in the sunshine.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Well done seawaxyn
In my head it is all about unessecary spending.
We need to buy children & grandchildren (oh dear am I that old?)
those little bits that make birthdays & easter etc special.. but not spend for the sake of it. a card or achocolate bar should surfice or otherwise we are breeding another generation of must haves whatever the cost0 -
I agree pippo - it's more important to honour the occasion than have huge piles of presents!
On Easter Sunday we are visiting friends who have a huge garden, so we will arrange a mega Easter Egg hunt. They keep chickens so there will be plenty of real eggs to paint too. It won't cost much but should be a lovely day.
I won't be spending today or tomorrow but on Weds I am going out for a pizza with a load of the mums from my son's class. I expect to spend about £15 but I do want to get to know these mums more so I've decided it's worth it.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
'Till the end of time' seems like a very scary idea, but then again £10 per week seems like loads. I am quite excited about this new challenge but looking forward to it. Yesterday my family wanted to watch a box office movie on Sky. (We have Sky cos can't get good terrestrial signal). I asked the four kids for £1 each, I thought I'd make 25p profit, but they all decided to go out to the pub quiz instead! Two of them drink tap water at pub, so do I, but landlord is now charging 20p per glass.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
