I miss Primark too!
When I'm debt free (lol how many times do we say this to ourselves!), I'm going to 'treat' myself to a fabby dabby day at Primark!!
Roll on 2009!
Not got much planned for today, I've got tonsilitus (sp?!) so feeling a bit worse for wear. Having a day of rubbish daytime t.v, go on Jeremy Kyle (and you know you guys watch it too!) and feeling sorry for myself.....
Hopefully feel better for tomorrow, and work again. At leats being ill and grumpy means I dont want to go out/cant be bothered to go out, so another no spender for me..........

I've been mentally shopping in Primark with my £20, but conceeded that I dont need anything... its all a want!
So it will either be my first two weeks challenge money or it'll be coming off the credit cardWealth is not measured by currency0 -
good lord! What on earth do you buy them?!!!
My gift budget per year is a very generous (in my mind) £400... admittedly I have no kids, but do have BF and his family to buy for, as well as my own.
But to answer your question, if you budget and set aside money for gifts, then no it doesnt come out of your £10...HTH
I didn't think I spent that much on birthay's/Christmas either.
Friends = £20 each
Parents = £50 each
Nana's = £50 each
Boyfriend = £200
Then I've allowed £2 for people I just buy a card for...
How much do you think each person should be?0 -
For fear of sounding really mean, I've never spent £50 on my parents!
God I feel awful now, forgive me Mum!
I'd say £30 each parent, birthday and christmas
Nan's mine defo doesnt get £50, probs about £15 - £20..
Plus I dont have many friends lol, but even the ones I do have I spent £10 on for birthday and christmas.
It all depends I guess, on what you're buying them, if what they ask for is £50 it can be quite hard to say no. But in that respect I would say do plenty of research as to where you can get it, and make sure that where you can you buy it through quidco to get some money back on it.
Plus is that £50 for christmas, and £50 for bithday? or £50 in total per person per year?
It may be a case that you spending the money because the amount you're spending looks like a good nice round number to spend. I.E You can spend £50 and still end up looking like you haven't got much etc, or ou can spend £35 and if you spend wisely, get freebies with it etc, it can go a lot lot further.
As for the £2 on a card, just buy a multipack of assorted cards circa £3-£5 at most and use those, you'll probs get around 20 decent cards for that amount of money,
whereas 20 individual cards at £2 a pop equals £40 !!!!!!! £40 a year on cards!!!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Mum is happy with whatever present she gets as I know a lot of thought goes into my pressies, as does nan aka cafcgran. :rotfl:
No parent would expect/ want their offspring to go into debt by spending more on pressies than they can afford. I think that should go for everyone- I spend more now than I did because I can afford to, but when first married and offspring young has very little money so couldn't afford to spend much. But I hope nobody ever felt neglected- time spent with someone is worth more than money to that person.:TAre those shopping bags you're carrying really bags of debt???0 -
As a matter of interest, I was in Thorntons yesterday and they were selling small boxes of continental chocolates for £1.93, half price- short date, ie eat by end March. as I rarely look at the eat by date on a box of chocs, they might be suitable for a pressie. Anyway they wouldn't be around long enough to go off in my home.
CAFCGIRL- you still have the Lindt choc bunny I gave you last year!Are those shopping bags you're carrying really bags of debt???0 -
