    You can record whatever you wish. It is what you can do with it is the problem.

    If it is just between you and who you have recorded that is O K.

    But if it gets legal you must have informed the person you have recorded that you are doing it.

    When I was having problems with N T L. I used to tell them I was recording the conversation and that in itself helped.

    Cheaper to use a handsfree speakerphone (can be picked up for £10? Or some mobiles do this) plus a normal tape recorder.

    Should be adequate for your purposes.
