  • Hi,

Just wondered if anybody has any experience with 'startrescue.co.uk'. At the moment, they have one of the lowest prices for what I need (i.e. everything except Home Start and European cover).

Hopefully somebody out there can post.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know if I can go through a cashback site to renew my RAC recovery and use Tesco vouchers please.
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

we have been using brittania rescue uk and europe for 2 years we pay £15 a month maybe a bit steep as we only wanted it for europe but we do tend to go away a few times a year. i did check other companies and they wouldnt insure us because of the age of the car. we had to use it this year when we were in europe. we just changed a tyre and a few hundred miles of driving we found one of the tyres was so bald we were driving on metal we had no spare now. and being a sunday on the border of belguim there was no where to buy a tyre until monday. so we called brittania and they said that if it could not be fixed on that day they would pay for a room for us for the night. but they managed to find a company that came out to us and took us to there garage and changed the tyre. all we paid for was the tyre. so will definatly stay with them.

I see from an old post - (number 33 - i am not allowed to post the link),
that not every one covers wheel changes, I see autoaid says you must carry a roadworthy spare tyre at all times , so I assume they do.
Anybody know who doesn't cover this?

    Hi All!

And Happy New Year motor monkeys!

I'm after some new breakdown cover for when my rac one expires on 9th Jan, so wondered if anyone had any recent reviews, all the lower priced ones like 'rescuemycar.com' seem to get terrible reviews on sites so am I best to invest and fork out AA prices?

I only have a lil smart car but as a girlie on traveling mainly on my own I do need full cover (home start and everything) Not european cover though.

    Any advice/experiences?

    Thanks in advance

Take a look at MARTIN'S "BREAKDOWN COVER". In it he mentions AutoAid, which may be of interest to you. HERE is a link to a feedback page on AutoAid to give you an idea of the experiences people have had who have used them.

Just had a quick question about breakdown cover - do the companies renew your policy every year without confirming? ie. do they just automatically take the money out of your account when one year's policy ends?

I didn't know this happened until my insurance company tried to do this when I'd already bought a policy with a different insurrer! Luckily my bank stopped them from taking the money out of my account. So I was wondering if breakdown people did the same...

To answer a question further up this page - I don't think you can renew the RAC thing AND get cashback AND pay with Tesco vouchers. I was trying to get cashback on a renewal (since this year it's a much higher payout!) but unfortunately the cashback is for new customers only.

I also wanted to ask the opinion of all you MSErs - personal cover or vehicle cover - which is best?

gozaimasu: RAC through their website definately put you on a rolling credit/debit card deal but they do write to you about 6 weeks before renewal.

RAC cover is on special through Quidco today with £35 off one of the more expensive packages.

However as our car is a shade under 5 years old perhap Green insurance is the way to go.

Anybody know of any reviews for them.
    Thanks

    Not all of them.
    AutoAid definitely Don't.

However auto-renew is quite a common feature.
I deal with it by putting all my dates in a spreadsheet - car service, tax, MOT, insurance renewals, end of savings bonus etc. etc.
Then a month before I start shopping around and lapse it if necessary.
  • I joined rescuemycar.com last year but had not had to use them until last week. I will never use them again. I chose them because they had the cheapest policy for what I wanted including homestart - I think it was about £30. BUT, you have to pay another £40 every time you call them out so the policy cost is really a false economy. Besides that I received appalling service. I rang them at 09.30 to a flat battery and they finally arrived at 5.15!!! I rang them throughout the day to see where they had got to and was told on different occasions that I had a) cancelled the job b)my request hadn't been put onto their system c) they would definately be here by 3.15 - none of the above are true!!! AND I had to pay for this shoddy service -never again!
