Does anyone have any experience of using Green Insurance for their breakdown cover?

My breakdown has expired and even though my car is only a couple of years old I still like to have breakdown cover for peace of mind just in case. My renewal for my current provider, done through Asda came through at £75. I just did a quote online and for the same full cover (without European cover which I don’t need) it has given me a price of around £27 as I also found a 10% discount code for them.

I then noticed that you can get £42.50 Cashback through Quidco for all sales at Green Insurance and it doesn’t state any limitations as to which products you must buy.

This would be fantastic as then I would actually be getting my breakdown free and also making some extra cash back. However I understand that cheaper isn’t always better and would rather hear peoples experiences of using this company before deciding whether to take the plunge.

Obviously I’m hoping I don’t break down and need to use it at all!

Do you mean green flag? If so, you are mistaken about the quidco cashback rates

No I don't mean Green Flag. I am refering to The Green Insurance Company which :money: talks about in the Cheap Breakdown Cover article linked to from this weeks MSE newsletter :)

The green cashback offers from the cashback sites is for motor insurance.

Damn - totally missed that! Thought it was too good to be true.

The £27 quote is still fantastic though so if anyone has had any experience with Green Insurance Company I'd like to know :)

My RAC membership ends at the end of July. Is there any way of postponing the start date of the AA membership if I purchased it today through TCB?
  • has any one got any experience of the green insurance company breakdown cover or rescue my car breakdown?
  • As a lifelong member of first the AA, then RAC, with mixed (though mostly good) experiences, I became increasingly disenchanted with both due firstly to them being taken over by profit orientated businesses, and finally by their escalating premiums. This last factor drove me to shop around for alternative cover, mainly for peace of mind for my wife as I work abroad. Learning of AutoAid through this website, I liked the concept and decided to give them a try. The premium was an attraction too! In three years my wife has had to call them three times - once to change a wheel after a puncture, and once when the power steering failed, both on her BMW, and both ended happily with the costs quickly reimbursed. However, one puncture she suffered on the M25 with my Audi didn't turn out so well when the plonker who attended changed the wheel and sent her on her way without inflating the space-saver spare ! This resulted in another call out and a proposal to take her and the car home (80 miles) on the recovery vehicle :(. Fortunately she called me (I was in the S Atlantic!), and being mid afternoon was able to take up my suggestion to simply be recovered to the nearest tyre fitter and either have the puncture mended or buy a new tyre. Auto Aid again reimbursed these assistance and recovery invoices promptly, but who was going to pay for my ruined tyre and chewed-up alloy wheel? Eventually, after three letters, Auto Aid, as a "gesture of goodwill", and admitting no liability, did actually cover my invoice (£500ish!) for the new space-saver tyre and wheel from Audi :T. So with the proviso that you have to be aware that the local mechanics they send for roadside assistance may not necessarily be from the top drawer I feel from my experience that I can endorse the service provided by Auto Aid after all

    Hi all,

Im looking for breakdown cover that will cover me on any car but also tow me to the garage of my choice rather then a local garage.

I dont mind paying a bit more knowing that the car is going to an independent garage that know and trust.

    Is there any such providers?

    Thanks

Hi, I want to sign a 2nd car up to autonational as they offer 50% discount on the 2nd car but there isn't an option to do this online (Quidco plus 3 months free!). Do I have to phone up, is there a way to do it online to get the 2 offers?
