Breakdown cover: Get the cheapest roadside recovery

I too find myself hunting for cheap breakdown cover. I've just had my renewal through from the RAC, £111 for roadside, recovery and at home cover. I thought it was far too high so called them up to barter and was told "we don't price match cover" I then asked for it to be cancelled hoping for negotiation but no, it was cancelled on the spot!
I had to use RAC once, I live in a major town and it took 4 hours for them to send a vehicle out to me!
So, who to try next? Looks like i'll be working my way through the list here0 -
I can't remember whether I was alerted to this by this site, or the motley fool site - but - it works...
New membership applications online are currently 25% off - use quidco and you get £21 cashback.
I signed up for basic cover yesterday (normally £44/year) - it's currently £33 online, and the £21 cashback has just been validated on quidco - so, one year's cover for £12!
 Cheers,

i have just renewed my auto aid cover which was expired 29/4 and have recived news from nat west that advantage gold customers recieve free green flag cover
worth £69
i have had a quick look at my policy and can't see much difference
had i received the information sooner i may not have taken the policy out again
to cancel it will cost me probably £15
as green flag to me is free it is tempting but is it going to cover me for the same things?
im not good at comparing so any help appreciated
thanks mrs moneyspender0 -
I've noticed the £21 cashback offer but i was wondering could this be included with the Tesco clubcard points offer?
So get roadside cover for £14.25 in clubcard vouchers, then go through a cashback site to the RAC site and then purchase the cover...;)
just a thought...

Do Autoaid operate in Northern Ireland?
Couldn't find on their site if the do/don't.0 -
My renewal for the AA came this week. I called them and told them I was moving to AutoAid - they did reduce the price from £77 to £60 - however, I still cancelled.
I've now taken out a policy with AutoAid.0 -

As we (MSE) give some companies so much business shouldn't there be a special rate for MSE'ers?Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0

turns out my wife can get roadside and home cover with her insurance.
her first quote from her current insurers was for 395 + 52 for breakdown,
she said that was too expensive so they offered the breakdown for free.
she did a bit of research and got a quote of 315.
rang them back and they offered 300 with roadside, saving over £100 from the first quote!
proves the worth of not accepting the first offer.0 -
Any Tesco ClubCard Deals holders here???
We were wondering, what happens at renewal time where RAC subs are concerned?
We "bought" our subs with Deal Tokens, but don't know what the procedure is at renewal -- is this possible with ClubCard Deals or is it necessary to either cancel (or not renew) and then apply again using the Tesco vouchers?
Advice appreciated -- thanks!0
