02 Won't honour 12 month upgrade

Hi, I have a business contract with 02 which when I purchased it I was told it was an 2 year contract with a new phone after the first year. I have been in contact with them numerous times and they have told me that the terms have changed and they no longer are giving new phones out after a year. Has anyone else had this problem and did you get a new phone??? :(:(:(

if its in your contract you can, if not nope
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

AFAIK, the mid term upgrade was never a T&C, your contract is 24 months, so the 12 month upgrade was a perk but NOT part of the contract ie they can remove it with no warning etc as it was never a contractual obligation.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

They do change things. Before the i-phone 4s came out you could buy out your remaining contract (very cheaply) and get an upgrade mid term. My son did it, coming home with a shiney new i-phone. I went in the next day and they had pulled that deal and they would not change their minds.
I guess handsets are becoming expensive?

o2 are getting worse, all-round. Vote with your feet, and take your business elsewhere upon the expiration of your contract. I did, and o2 don't give a damn (I had only been with them 8 years and was only paying £37 per month mind, so I was probably not their ideal customer, they only seem to want £65 per month iPhone customers lol).

There are better deals out there (I went to Three) and just about any company is better than o2. Sooner or later, the mass-exodus of customers is going to hurt them, they have been reluctant to keep customers for over two years now, I'm gob-smacked (though not surprised given we live in the UK) that they are still one of the most popular networks.

Crap network, crap mobile-internet service, customer support going downhill, totally uncompetitive pricing, and increasing stories of underhand/shady business tactics, they've gone from hero to zero in only a few years. Bye bye o2, nice knowing you.

Problem is for some of us they have the best coverage. They also provide the network for emergency services, so they know that for some people there is little choice.
I cannot get signal at my house with anyone else, so the other networks would pick up more customers if they could chuck a few more masts out there

Such a shame, in my local area the o2 service has been going downhill for a couple of years now, ever since they (tried) to convert the whole place to 3g, the service has been atrocious, signal is weaker, even on GSM and there are blackspots popping up everywhere, and they are so popular, that getting on the internet at peak hour (on phone, not broadband) is pretty much a no-go. Three's coverage isn't as strong locally, but it does seem to have better blanket coverage, and the beauty is, everywhere is 3G (despite o2's attempts, you are constantly dropping back to EDGE/GPRS all the time, one minute your net is okay, the next minute it's dawdling), so the whole network is ultra-fast, plus with less congestion, there is never any problems getting online.

I used to avoid going online with o2 at peak hour, knew it wasn't worth bothering unless I was near a wifi connection, with 3 I've not had that worry.

It's sad to see o2 going downhill, because I've been with them for so long (6+ years pre-contract starting with the Cellnet U or Easylife service I forget lol, then onto Genie/o2 Online and then 8 years on a regular o2 contract) and they have always had a reputation locally as being "the best" and now everyone seems to be ditching them for Three because they're so sick of the pathetic network performance.

I'm surprised you can't get Vodafone, you must be annoyed to be stuck with o2, probably the only way they will stay in business.

    :(

To be honest I have had no problem with o2. The coverage is good in Cornwall for me. I don't need my mobile for internet at home anyway and with the i-phone deal I got I was very happy.
I called yesterday to tell them I did not want the case they sent as I did not like it. How do I send it back? Reply. Keep it, we will credit you the money anyway. Anyone want a leather slip case?

You'll pay for it 50x over in their rip-off pricing, of course they will let you keep it.

    They call it "premium pricing"...
