PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I knew I had an old loan with Halifax (long paid off) and I just wanted to check whether it had PPI.
If you want to avoid all that, send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter which will net you all information they have kept on file for you. The fee is £10.0 -
Hi, I had a mortgage with the Halifax between 1988 and 1998 which definately had PPI as part of the package. The Halifax have no record and I have no paperwork. Is there anything that I can do?0

Hoping someone can help me.
I complained to Egg regarding a PPI claim on an Egg card in 2013 which was rejected. I have received a letter from Canada Square Operations this morning saying the following-
"YOU CAN MAKE A NEW TYPE OF
COMPLAINT ABOUT YOUR PPI"
"Following a Supreme Court decision and new rules and guidance from the Financial Condict Authority, you can now make a new type of complaint to us about the sale of your PPI policy".
Anyone else received a letter like this?
Thanks in advance

How and why do think this PPI (if it existed) was mis-sold to you?
Only if you find documentary evidence of this alleged PPI do you have any hope of having it refunded.
Do note that Mortgage PPI is a useful insurance which is still retailed todaymarts1_ON_ANOTHER_THREAD wrote: »I took out a mortgage (endowment) with the Halifax in 1988.0 -

Hi folks
Does anyone have any advice regarding this? Back in the late 1980's/ early 1990's I had an endowment mortgage with the Prudential. I recently sent them an email giving them my details, address of the property that I bought. The only thing that I don't have is any paperwork or policy number. Prudential have replied via letter saying that they can't locate any policy on their records. They say that they only maintain records for 6 years (plus 1 extra year with what they regard as a cautious line). They have basically said without any policy-related document that shows a reference number they are unable to help me. Is there anything else I can do or is it a lost cause?
Thanks... Any replies much appreciated0 -
Please can anyone advise how much more information Halifax tend to require?
If they are unable to identify a failing from what they have on file, they will usually send out the questionnaire which is similar to the FOS version. It allows them to find out if there are things they are not aware of that could be an issue.Their process seems to be a lot more complex than others I have dealt with especially since they haven't even confirmed yet whether I had PPI or not?
Some types of PPI have technical failings. Loan PPI being single premium and added to debt and charged interest on for example. Whilst other types of PPI have very few issues (mortgage PPI for example). So, some complaints are easily upheld. Others less so.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Endowments didn't have PPI, however, so you can rest easy knowing you haven't lost out.0 -

What are you attempting to complain about?
This thread is about PPI but endowments couldnt have PPI on them.
Are you on the wrong thread or are you perhaps, mistakenly believing your endowment had PPI?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). i took out a mortgage in early 1990's with Halifax and took mortgage protection insurance through a broker. I paid just over £4 per £100 of cover so basically paying around £16 a month. I moved my mortgage around many times and cancelled the insurance (MPI) mortgage protection insurance around 5-6 years ago as I realised it was worthless.
how do I stand, it was provided by GA. (general Accident)0
