I very much doubt you have PPI on Life Insurance.

    Insurance on insurance? Really?

PPI is a dead duck anyhow with most providers ceasing to offer it years ago.

I think you're mistaken as to what this is.

What exactly does it state on the Annual Statement you've received?

You cant get PPi on life assurance.

I'm not aware of any such insurance added to insurance!

I'd like to know what the OP thinks is PPI, though...

I know that it has been added to some car insurance when the premiums are monthly under a credit agreement. Life assurance doesn't though. Maybe its waiver of premium (which is not PPI).

Doesn't look like "anitame" will be back to tell us...

Statistically, the odds are you are not going to get anything as most MPPI complaints fail. Mortgages are very different to loan and credit cards. Only a minority of MPPI complaints succeed.

However, if your complaint does succeed, then it would be the premium you paid plus interest at 8% simple.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

Both my wife and myself had separate income protection policies at the time and my wife also had a separate critical illness cover, added to that is the fact our employment contracts offered us full pay and half pay for a significant number of months. Is this taken into account when looking at claims?

CI has no overlap with MPPI. income protection policies are long trm and have a qualifying period. It is very common to have MPPI and Income protection. The FOS have been rejecting complaints on MPPI where there are 12 months sickness benefits. Yet they tend to uphold complaints when its loan/credit card PPI.

However, yours is a bank policy. Bank are very erratic on complaint handling. So, you can never really guess what they will do.

    Update on my claim.
The card with the PPI was originally a Halifax card, but the account was sold to MBNA. I put my claim into MBNA, as I had the information that I had paid PPI to them and that I had not been asked if I wanted it.
I got the standard letter from MBNA which I mentioned previously stating they were investigating and I would recieve an outcome in 28 days.
Subsequently I have received a text and letter from Halifax to say they are investigating my complaint, which confused me as I hadn't complained to them. They had my details incorrect and so I contacted them.
MBNA have passed them a copy of my complaint, this was acknowledged by Halifax on the 11th April, and as my original was hand written it has meant they have not copied across the details correctly. Hence the incorrect name and other details. This should now be fixed following my call.
They have said they will investigate and come to a decision by the 10th June and will then inform me and MBNA of their findings. They seemed very annoyed about it all and said they may need further information to substantiate my complaint. I said I was happy to provide what I could but that the information provided to MBNA was comprehensive.
So, we shall see, I guess, they've given themselves two months to look into it which seems a long time when MBNA said 28 days.

I successfully claimed Halifax for missold ppi on a mortgage & they paid out in November 2012. I recently found out about comparative redress so wrote to them asking for a breakdown of how my payment was calculated. I have now received their reply but the breakdown advises the monthly ppi amount paid was £23.84 but we actually paid £45 per month for 5 years. Does this sound like they have used comparative redress? Any help appreciated as I am struggling to understand how this works :o
  • Hi, does anyone know whether you are able to claim back ppi if the debt was partly written off? I had a loan and credit cards years ago and it all got too much and I couldn't afford to pay them off so I went for an administration order. This paid off some but not all of the debt, can I claim ppi back on the amounts paid off?
