Nasqueron, I think your comment is very rude and hurtful. I didn't ask you to critique my behaviour, you know nothing of my state of health, mind or circumstances. I suggest you keep hurtful comments to yourself. I just shared my experience and asked for some advice. End of.0

This forum is called Money SAVING Expert, not Money Wasting Expert, I and several others on here will continue to point out the fact CMCs do nothing but post off a letter while you do all the work for them and then they take a huge chunk off any refund you get for nothing more than the price of a stamp - there is nothing MSE about using a claims company (who may actually harm your chances of getting a refund AND are less likely to win a case)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It matters little whether you find this "rude and hurtful", it's the blunt truth.0 -
We don't advocate the use of a claims company on this site.
There is no excuse for using one, all it takes is a phone call or filling a form in to the bank, a friend or neighbour perhaps, could help anyone who is having difficulty putting a mis sell claim in.
People get ALL the help they need for free on this site, Boogiesnoop could have had ALL the redress, what could they have done with the money they paid the claims co?.0 -

and there is nothing a financial adviser can do that people on here cannot do themselves. CMC's came about because the banks and financial institutions failed to meet the requirements of treating customers fairly. If they were completely honest and people trusted them, then CMCs would not exist. If they hadn't lied in the first place when adding the policies to loans then the problem would not be there, and many of the people who post about CMC's are financial advisers or those with a vested interest in supporting financial advisers who were in part responsible for mis-selling policies to the public0 -
No one on this forum will applaud the use of a Claims Management Company.
I will, because people have choiceIt matters little whether you find this "rude and hurtful", it's the blunt truth.
and therein lies the conundrum of public forums, if you want to post then you open yourself up to people making rude and hurtful remarks because the people making them do not care about how the recipient feels when they are being told that they have acted stupidly (in someone else's opinion).
It is not the 'truth' it is an opinion of an individual to be accepted, acted upon or cast away with tomorrows fish and chips as much as any journalism.0 -

CMCs came about because various unscrupulous types saw an opportunity to expand beyond fraudulent whiplash claims and ambulance chasing and realised they could con the general public into thinking PPI complaining was hard and that a company could do a better job.
Numerous CMCs have been ruled against for misleading advertising (such as claiming they had more chance to win a case) and even the regulator has made it clear a CMC is pointless as you are no more likely to win and indeed, may be less likely to win.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Had a response back from Barclays saying no PPI. I sent off the standard on line forms. I don't have any documentation at all. Worth contacting Barclays again or goto ombudsman?0

You've been told you have no PPI
You have no proof you have PPI
The ombudsman is not going to be able to create documents that don't exist or proceed with a complaint against a product you didn't have.
All that is left is for you to send a DSAR request with £10 to Barclays if you don't believe them and it would be a waste of £10 if it produces no documents or confirms they were telling the truthSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
