PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

As I wasn't employed by anyone and was a business owner , do I have a claim on PPI being mis sold
Most PPI does cover the self employed. It is a significant minority that does not (or has too onerous terms). You can complain and use it as a reason but if Halifax does (and most banks do) then you may need an additional reason to give for complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

It was stated I had to take PPI in order to gain loans , this surely wasn't correct or is it?0 -

Provide your evidence to back up that allegation and it is an easy win. Without evidence it is just an unprovable allegation that every dodgy complaint uses as well. Very few complaints get upheld on unprovable allegations. Although many go to get upheld on other reasons (including things the person never actually complained about).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You seem very negative with your comments , how would I have evidence of being told I wouldn't get loan without taking PPI, Are you suggesting that everyone should record all dealings with intermediers working for the bank ?????0

You seem very negative with your comments
Not at all. Just pointing out weaknesses to allow you the opportunity to improve your complaint before you make it.how would I have evidence of being told I wouldn't get loan without taking PPI
Most people cant which is why that is not a strong complaint reason and its unusual for a complaint to be upheld for that reason.
Its on par with "you stole £10 out of my wallet". Should you believe me just because I say it or would the available evidence point towards that being likely?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). How would you recommend I pursue my claim0

How would you recommend I pursue my claim
In law the onus is on the accuser (he who asserts must prove) - if you are making an accusation such as you were told you had to have the PPI or you were not able to get the loan you must be able to provide proof of that assertion or, legally speaking, you might as well be making it up.
Concentrate on provable things such as if the insurance didn't cover the self-employed or the conditions to claim were onerous (like having to close your business down)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hello
Hopefully I am posting this in the right place as it's the first time I've I have used this, apologies if not.
I recently contacted Lloyds Bank to ask for details of the policies from 4 loans I've had over the last 10 years with them as I do not know if I had PPI as I do not have the policy details any more and no outstanding loans.
The only details I have are the payments I made showing on my bank statements with the Reference numbers for each one.
Lloyds sent a letter back a few weeks later which says " Unfortunately, I am unable to find a loan account held by you here at hte personal loan service centre with the details you provided."
all 4 loans show the payment on my statement as " loansdirect" but were all definitely with Lloyds/Lloyds tsb.
Can anybody tell me if there is anything I can do do get the policy info or another step I can take towards reclaiming PPI if I did have it?0 -

Loans Direct would have been the broker. Therefore, you should speak to them.0 -
Thank for the reply.
I am unable to find any info on Loans Direct loans through Lloyds and I do not understand why Lloyds have no info on these loans when I took all of them out direct in a Lloyds branch or on the Lloyds website.
It appears I am stuck at the first hurdle!
Can anyone tell me if a PPI reclaim company would have a better chance of finding out if I had PPI on any of my loans?
thank you0
