After sitting on the fence for far too long, I took the plunge last week and discovered that I had EIGHT Lloyds loans that were eligible for PPI reclaim.

I have had the pack through from Lloyds today which states the 8 account numbers relating to the loans, what is doesn't state of course is the dates when the loans were taken - I have no idea of the dates and similarly what employer I was with when I got them (they ask this question on the form).

Should I just go back at them on the phone and ask for the dates of when the loans were taken or do I have to be more official? They were very forthcoming with the details when I enquired about PPI - In all honesty, I had no idea I had taken so many loans!!! :rotfl:

    Any ideas?

The dates of your loans have no impact on your employment history. That remains the same regardless. So, just give them your employment history.

  • In 2010 I made a mis-sold PPI complaint for a Cahoot credit card which was upheld with a payment of £330. I have just discovered that I am still paying for this policy.

At the time, I unfortunately used a claims company. I assumed following a successful mis selling claim that the policy would be automatically cancelled. Did the responsibility for cancelling the policy lie with me or the claims company or Cahoot? The reason I didn't notice the payments were still being taken off earlier than this is because the card was unused for a while and when it was used again I pay by Direct Debit and no longer get paper statements.

Am I entitled to ask for these extra payments back? I received a letter at the time of the PPI claim stating that the payment was in respect of PPI payments "from 2006 to April 2010 (the date of the last payment before cancellation)" I still have a copy of the letter, it didn't mention anywhere on it that I had to formally cancel the policy, I just assumed that it would be.

Has anybody else had the same situation?

Contact them and explain what you said above.
You won mis sell but they are still taking your payments, ask for them to be refunded and cancel the PPI.
  • Received a cheque today from Canada square for PPI related to my Egg card. I'm still waiting for payment into my bank from HSBC they are seriously dragging their feet, I sent the acceptance off to them on 8th September but they got in touch to say they needed more IDverification because I have got married since taking out the loan, I sent this to the nearly 2 weeks ago and still nothing, should I complain or would that just be petty?

  • I took out a loan for £13,000 in 2004. I was self-employed and as such was advised I would be much more likely to be approved for the loan as having PPI would ensure the bank got their payments even if I fell ill. I have recently applied to the bank in relation to this policy being mis-sold and they have told me over the phone last week they are sending me a letter offering £2600.

I'm aware they will potentially use any repayment to clear off money owed on the loan but when I asked them about it they were unable to find out any real info about my account as it had not been used in years. After much discussion and being passed from different department, they said they would have to print out all of the old statements and calculate what was paid etc.

The query I have is that I know I did not pay off the loan, there was a substantial amount left, about 60% at my best guess. A few months after taking out the loan I was ill and unable to work, the nature of my self-employment meant I would receive no income at all until I was back at work. So when I tried to use my PPI to cover the repayments until I was back at work, they told me I did not qualify as I was self-employed. I was screaming and shouting at the bank about this complaining it was unfair as that was why I had taken it out. I told them I wouldn't pay a penny back unless they sorted it out. I had one letter from the bank a week later stating I had missed my loan payment. I opened a bank account with another bank once I was well enough to return to work. I never heard anything more about the loan despite living at the same address for another 3 years after I stopped making any payments.

Although the bank didn't have access to what was still owed without going through the statements, they did say the offer would be subject to any outstanding debts. I checked to see if the loan had been sold to a third party and the bank confirmed it had not.

Can anyone offer any advice on this? Although I may owe the bank money, I still feel that I should be due compensation. The bank mis-sold it to me, as a direct result of this I was not in a position to make payments when I became ill, I ended up having debt because they did not honour the agreement to protect me in the event of becoming unwell.

I do not understand why the bank did not inundate me with letters, thats what I was expecting, but literally I only had one letter and that was the end of it.

Do I have any ways in which to encourage or enforce the bank to make the payment to me and not use it to reduce the debt. The amount owed will be more than the PPI repayment, in which case I wasted my time. I no longer live in the UK, I have not done so since 2007, so the debt has no bearing on my life these days.
  • Hello everyone, I wonder if anyone might know where I can go next with my PPI question. I had various bank loans from Nat West during the mid 80's when I banked with them. All of them had PPI attached. Using the advise on the site I contacted them and asked them for details so I could pursue a claim. They have now written back saying that they are unable to trace my details so cannot provide the info. Where do I go from here? Any help would be gratefully received.

Are you sure about this? It is 30 years later and PPI was generally a late 80s invention.

If they don't have records and you don't then there is not really anywhere you can go.
  • Hi guys,

I have PPi on a capital one credit card. I called and mentioned that i think i was mis sold ppi. they said they would send me a questionnaire so they could gather more information. One of the questions asked me to prove i was not working in 2006 when my ppi date started. I dont l have that, who do I contact to get one? Can capital one ask me for it from so long ago?
Despite the fact on the ppi review letter i am now receiving, it states me as unemployed. I am 'not a teacher but 2006 was year after uni and I wasn't working. I just dont know how to prove it to them.

    Any advice would be amazing

Did you put that you were not working in 2006 in your complaint? Asking for evidence is not uncommon and allowed. However, it tends to happen when when people specifically put something in their complaint that draws attention to it and there are no other reasons so far that they can see to uphold your complaint.

Copy of your contract of employment.
Copy of your bank statements showing the first month the income was paid (and a few months statements prior to that which would show no income as you were unemployed).
