    Hi,

just trying to make sense of the guidelines issued on here whether to make a claim.
Can you claim PPi for being frequently overdrawn? I have been with Barclays for 25 yrs and had their Additions accounts.

  • I have just received a reply from Santander about a PPI claim for a credit card but they say as I am unable to provide copies of my statements they cannot proceed any further with my claim, but surely they have the information to hand they sold it to me?

Statements are used to see if you paid any PPI. They dont help in the complaint decision. Statements are typically held for a limited period of time and then destroyed (6 years being common).

  • Hi All,

I'm new to the forums but was hoping to pick your brains.
I bought a car in 2007 which had PPI. I claimed on the policy once but couldn't claim again because my health problems were pre-existing medical conditions. The policy was sold to me because I had health problems and to give me the security if I had to have another surgery.
Is this a suitable reason to make a claim?

    Thanks for the help. :T

You can complain to the dealer. However, be aware that the value paid out on a claim is offset against the premiums paid. So, if the policy paid out more than the premiums paid, even if your complaint was upheld, you would not get a penny.

Also, pre-existing conditions only work if they are sufficient to invalidate the policy or make the odds of a successful claim unlikely. You had a successful claim. So, its unlikely pre-existing would work as a valid reason in your case.

  • Thanks for the advise Dunstonh.
The successful claim was unrelated to any of my other disabilities. Every other time I tried to claim they said I couldn't because of pre-existing medical conditions although the dealership sold me the policy because of my pre-existing conditions.

    It's far too confusing.
    Thanks for the help anyway.

    Hello

The second letter stated I had used my first loan to finance the second loan and that they were offering me a lesser amount than the first amount quoted. However since then I've got a letter confirming my acceptance of the first amount but I had to write a letter asking egg if they were making me a second offer and could they clarify what they were actually offering me. I will report back. It's annoying you can't phone and speak to Egg directly and they refuse to answer emails.

At least MBNA offer a contact number to call.

You can certainly complain that the policy was mis-sold to you, just as long as you have robust reasons for doing so and thorough documentary evidence. There is no point presenting a "He said, she said" hearsay complaint, though, and the PPI mis-selling scandal in the UK is completely irrelevant.
