There are none, they all charge a huge percentage of any redress awarded for doing virtually nothing.

In addition, if you can't fill in the Ombudsman form to complain directly then you'll find it just as difficult to fill in the same form for the Claim Company.

    Oxymoron.

All the claims company does is put the same information you are asked for on the FOS onto the a FOS form in their handwriting or a similar unbranded form or use a template letter (which you should avoid as they have lower success rates).

  • Hi guys,

firstly thank you to this forum. Just moved my credit card to the nationwide one recommended to me via the guide and it's going to save me close to £300 over the next year. Hopefully with no set backs I will be totally debt free within 8 months baring my student loan (it would be zero now by my car literally exploded so needed costly repair).

I am finally deciding to look into ppi. I was previously poor with money, hence why it has taken me so long to sort out the debt I started to accumulate as a student. I have recently just completed a 3 year loan with Zopa (again found through this site) however prior to that I chopped and changed between cards and places to the extent I can barely remember what I had.

I know there is a lot of information on this site, however what would I do in terms of checking if I was paying ppi, as I find a lot of what I read a bit baffling. Between 2000-2007 I have had fairly significant accounts with:

Natwest (who I still bank with)
    Virgin
    Sky card
    Egg
    Amazon

my tardiness in looking into it is I have zero paperwork from any of those accounts. I am 90% sure I had a couple of others that I can't for the life of me remember. The term "head in the sand" certainly would have previously applied to me.

I received a phone call this evening from a PPI compensation team and they insisted that I took out a loan for £5,000 in 2005 and I was due compensation.I had a credit card with Nat West but I don't remember taking out a loan.My late mother, who lived with me during that time, may have taken out the loan and our shared address has caused the confusion.I told the PPI team this and they ended the call.If my mother was due any compensation would I be able to claim for her estate? It's all very confusing!

This is a scam. It's a CMC fishing for business. Take no notice of it.

I to had the above with other company can i ask for refund re payments made as not used the policy and not help

You can ask for a refund but not using the policy isn't a reason. The majority of insurance polices of any description are never used but they are there to protect you in case you need to use them.

    Wot he sed.

If you have a complaint to make then you just write to whoever you are complaining about and tell them what you think has been done wrong when and why.

If you find that too confusing then (without meaning any disrespect) if probably indicates that you are looking for redress without really knowing why you think you should get it.
  • We had two bank loans, about 12 years ago. Cannot for the life of me remember who with! Don't have any details. At all. I know we had PPI on both loans. One was for £10k and one for £5k.

I feel sure that if I saw the name of the company, It'd all become clear. Currently it's as clear as mud....

    Any ideas? :)

You're really going to struggle if you cannot even remember who these loans were with, especially twelve years on.

You could write SAR letters to all the likely culprits, but this could prove an expensive (it costs £10 for each) and ultimately futile project because Banks generally keep records only going back around six years.
  • Can anyone help? I took out car finance although it was in joint names with my now ex husband. I've just contacted the company who provided the loan to us & they are saying I can't claim back the PPI as it was in my ex husband's name as he was the 'main applicant' but I was also on the loan agreement. The lady I just spoke to from the finance company said the the PPI only cover my ex husband which is why I can't claim it back. So even though I paid the loan & the insurance premium I can't get it back.
The whole loan was basically paid entirely by me. We separated not long after the loan was taken out & I was left to pay it. The money all came out of my bank account.
Anyone any ideas if I can do anything? I have no contact with my ex husband now.
