  • Hi, Have written RBS explaining that I was mis-sold ppi on my credit in 1996 and have been paying £15 per month since then. I wrote directly to rbs and explained my claim as I was clearly mis-sold due to a number of factors e.g wasn't employed at time, cleared balances monthly and wasn't told about ppi charge. Rbs offered me£1249.88 stating this is a goodwill gesture and they are making no admission of liability. The page explaining how they arrived at the figure is blank with just a total at the end. Is this normal or do you think I should be owed more as I have paid a lot more than this over the years. Any help would be welcome . Thanks.

Hi, if you have all the paperwork showing the monthly PPI payments you have made over the years then you could refuse their offer and ask for it to be looked at again using your paperwork as evidence.

If, on the other hand you don't have the paperwork to prove how much you paid over the years then I would accept the offer. Afterall, it's money you wouldn't have got back if you hadn't put the claim in.

Just my opinion and I am sure other more knowledgeable people will let you know their standpoint.

Hi guys i was wondering if anyone had info on how to go about finding if i had ppi on my egg credit card. I no i should no if i did but i am concerned after reading that the ppi box may have been pre ticked. It was back in th 1990s before we new alot about money and it was an account we built up and never paid off each month:-0. We are alot more money savy now. We ended up finally paying it off and closing the account a good few years ago now. So is there a way of finding out account numbers and if i had ppi? Or is it to late now. Thanks in advance.

The amount of PPI you pay on credit cards varies according to the amount you owe on your credit card, so when you owe nothing, you pay nothing.
They probably don't have records, so unless you have your own, as niki says, your best bet is to accept :)

You can send a SAR to Egg to find out if you did. They may no longer have records if it's more than 6 years ago [give or take] and it will cost you £10.

  • Hi

I decided to look into claiming ppi as ive heard so many other people getting money back. I had 2 loans from Yorkshire Bank many years ago but do not have any paperwork. I have been into my local branch and they were able to tell me the years they were taken out and the account numbers. They were taken out in 1998 and 2000, one was a loan to pay of the previous loan and a bit extra.

Im not sure if I paid PPI or not but if I did it would of been because I was told I had to to get the ok on a loan.

Anyway on contacting Yorkshire they have told me that they do not keep paperwork more than 7 years and without paperwork they will be unable to follow up a ppi complaint.

Should I still write to them and what are the chances of success?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Got a final response from Santander re a GE Capital store card today. They haven't upheld my complaint.

Their reasons are because it states a 28 day cancellation period for the protection on the credit agreement (which they have enclosed). They also state terms and conditions were sent out when the agreement was made, and also in 1998 and 2003 when upgraded. The protection was also noted on statements up until 2011 when the card was cleared.

My complaint in the first place is that I was told it was compulsory to take it out with the store card. The credit agreement they have attached backs this up; there's not a tick box for protection or anything like it, simply the terms in very small writing along with the APR details.

They say if I'm unhappy to contact the FLA, but from their website it would appear I can only complain if I have new information which I don't feel I have as I felt I gave everything as before.

Anyone been in a similar situation or can give any advice on this? :(

Egg had all my details including all statements going back to 1999 so a SAR should help. Rejected my initial claim though so have just referred it to the FOS.

You can write if you like, but if you have no paperwork and they have none, your complaint is dead in the water.
If you dont believe they have no records, send a SAR, it'll cost £10.
Then, if they do have some records, and if you did pay PPI, you need verifiable reasons for being missold.

Hi all, I've sent off 2 PPI Forms and had a reply from 1 lender saying they'll be investigating my complaint further. But the other lender (Santander) has said they have no record of my loan account and they need me to pass on some extra info. The thing is this loan was taken out in 2006 with Alliance and Leicester and I don't have any of the paperwork from the loan agreement. What steps (if any) can I do to try and find out any details about the A&L loan? If I can't find out any more info on this A&L loan what can I do to get Santander to investigate my complaint? Do I go to the ombudsman?
