could you please advise on their strength and any wording you would use for the complaint. Sorry to be so needy but I promise I have spent hours trawling the forums for the specifics.
The Barclayloan protection is provided by Barclays Insurance (Dublin) and was paid for by one premium, which was loaned to me as part of the Barclayloan and called ‘premium loan’ the rest of the loan was ‘cash loan’.
The Halifax Credit Card application form has a pre-checked box for the ppi with no seperate signature, just signed and dated at the bottom of the card application form.
    Thanks again, for any advice.
    No problem, floydfan!
The points you mention above are definitely worth including in your claim! I see no reason to use any other wording than that which you used above.
You won't be penalised for using your own words, just make sure you include everything.
Let us all know how you get on...

Can't hurt writing again and giving them the correct information, just make sure they know what complaint to link it to (account number, name, address etc) I had to do similar with one of mine and sent a further letter, they didn't acknowledge receiving it though ;)

Cheers, will run through a letter tonight then :j.

Think I'm going to wait for the outcome of this loan which I know all the details for before looking at past HSBC loans (one personal loan and a managed consolidation loan which sadly I can't locate the paperwork for). I can't remember the conversations for those ones compared to my latest loan, although I'm sure it was again implied PPI would help my application. Who knows, they might even consider them along with this claim.

Don't be surprised if they send you a letter detailing the policy numbers of the other loans as part of your complaint. It certainly won't be the first time!;)
  • Ok, heres the story.

In 1998, I was a student. During a summer, I stopped off at a Motorway SErvice Station. Where I was sold a Goldfish credit card. I can defo remember the sales girl filled in the form, and only asked me to sign it at the end.

Tonight, I'm watching BBC, when I see Martin being interviewed, talking about misselling PPI.

I check my credit card statements, and notice I have been paying it all this time. Goldfish at some point was taken over by Barclaycard.

Im not sure why I would have been sold PPI when I was a student, I would expect my employment to have been filled in on the form by the girl. Also, I have been self employed for the past 6 years.

I would not have asked for it, as I dont have it on any of my other credit cards (I have statements showing this)

Ive read the various FAQ's, but its a bit complicated.

What should be my first step. I have no paperwork, except my last months statements.

Many thanks. I ahve had to use this card on many occasions, regularly having thousands outstanding. It is however up to date with minimum payments.
  • Hie,
Can you pliz enlighten me, i used a third part to claim for ppi with a bank, this claaim was rejected. The third part wrote to me and said they were closing the file as this was the final response from the bank. I took it upon myself whem they couldnt helpme, i spoke to the banks customer services they promised to look on the case again, which they did, i never communicated this to the third part. However when they wrote to me roughly about three months later( third part) to say they were opening a new claim for my other loan to the same bank not the one they had closed the file. I asked them to stop because i knew the bank was already processing the two claims. However when the offer from the bank came. A letter by the bank was also sent to the third part, which they quickly wrote to me saying they had secured an offer from the bank. I wrote to them explaining that according to the correspondence i have with them, they had closed the case, therefore i was not willing to pay them as i never went back to them regarding this issue to ask them to open up the file, because they had said they would only open it if i furnished them with more information. I never went back to them, i never informed them that i had actually contacted the bank and the bank was only communicating with me up until the offer letter which the bank also sent them a copy and they became aware that this clam was now in progress. Now they are harrassing me they say i have to pay them. Plaese advice me.

Check the contract you've signed with them. Your bank has obviously written to them because you've authorised that third party to act on your behalf. It appears they've only closed the file on one of the loans you claimed for.
The mistake was to use their services in the first place, I'm afraid.

After hearing about this PPI claiming on the TV the last few weeks got me thinking of a car finance loan I have had in the past.
It was with First Finance in 2008, I took out a Hire Purchase with the garage i bought the car from which must have used a broker for the hp as i had to complete the application on the phone while there.

This broker advised me that I should take up Mechanical breakdown insurance, Gap insurance and protection against repaying if out of work etc. I didn't understand at the time how much this would add to the loan as they only spoke in monthly payments. I felt i was bullied into it to complete the application and get the car i wanted.

Luckily i read the small print when i got home and was able to cancel the insurance package after 3 months if i wanted, which I did. Not sure if a claim would be needed for this.

However here is the sting in the tail, I have recently been looking at my credit file as been refused credit recently. I have found a deferred payment of 2.5k on my file which is £50 for 4 years??? It is around the same date as when I bought the car but my file doesn't list a company, It just says "retailer"
This is seriously killing my credit score and I didn't even know it was there until now, never heard from the company that i owed any money and the loan itself was paid off in a year even though it was a 3 year loan.
As with many on here I only have a confirmation letter from First Finance that my loan has been settled but don't have anything else to do with the broker that set up the insurance.

Could this be the insurance??? the car cost me 5k

Where do I go from here??

    Please help
Ring who you got the credit report from, ask if they can help, just because you cancelled the insurance does not mean it was taken off.
Having said that, they have not chased you for this, but get it sorted, you need this taken off your file.
    This could be insurance.
