With regards to his loan - this is shown as one single payment of x amount which is consequently built into the monthly repaments - would this be classed as an one off single premium or monthly premium?
This is Single Premium PPI and the reason you use for mis sell.
My second question is whether we make 2 seperate claims, 1for his credit card PPI and the other for his loan PPI or whether we claim for them together?
    You do each one separately.
Also, are we able to go straight in with just sending off the consumer questionnaire (using the template from this site) without requesting the t's and c's first?
You only need the account number for the Loan, the card number for the CC and reasons for mis sell.

Put a claim into Welcome for these Loans, put that the later Loan was taken to repay the first.
This is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason for mis sell that you use, this was a loan on the loan paid to term end with interest, if you cancelled the PPI they would have given you a pro rata rebate of the PPI and the remaining PPI is still on the loan to term end.
If you settled this loan early then, as above you, would have a pro rata rebate and you would have paid back the remaining PPI in with the settlement figure.
This PPI will have cost you a lot as the first Loan PPI after the rebate would have been put onto the second Loan, not sure if they will take any win off the provident Loan, wait and see.

Thank you Amersall for your advice. Im still overwhelmed by it all to be fair. I wonder if you would take a moment to clarify that I can indeed claim for loans taken out in 2003 and 2005. Its just that when I googled welcome finance and ppi there was a pattern of "7" years popping up.

Secondly, about Welcome and Provident? Where do you suppose I can find out if they would think about repaying Provident from any successful claim. If I did go down the road of using a claims handler they would then look to me for their fee wouldn't they and then I would end up owing them too. looks like Im going to have do this myself  Oh god, Im so useless with financial stuff, going to need more wine and chocolate, lol. Just thinking and typing aloud, Welcome and Prov might be under the same umbrella but they trade alone, does that count? Also if the Prov loan has been sold on as a debt does that mean Prov no longer have an interst so that would be ok? Ooooh, confused face!

I really appreciate your words of wisdom, Im out of my depth here but a successful claim would make such a difference. Welcome really took advantage of us and almost took every last penny from our sale. Id love to get some sweet and just revenge.
Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x

  • Hello All,

Like the everyone else i am finally managing to sort the PPI form after evenyuially finding a 4 statements in which show i payed a "repayment cover" when i took a credit card out in 2002 with the halifax. my questions are
    • will i need all the statements?
    • will i need the T&C's? as per the template letter on the MSE guide line
    • also i read they only go back 6 years for CC's but i have found a statement (of teh 4 mentioned above) which showed i still payed this repayment cover.
as i am totally new to this if anyone could give me indepth descriptive account of how to go about this i would really appreciate it.

just to note due to this repayment cover on 2 occasions it made me go over my credit limit and meant i had to pay chagres and extra's even was threaten with bailiffs. (this was back in 2005 and 2007)

also i am finally paying this off even though its only the minimum. was wondering if that will also help with my claim?
Total Debt in June 2013: Barclaycard 0% until Nov 2014: £1550

    Tesco CC: £1200 0% Until March 2014

HSBC CC: £384 25%APR - TARGET to make GREEN ASAP
  • I'd just like to say thanks to everyone that offers advice on here. I don't know how many hours amersall, money and the rest put in here but thank you for the time and effort you put in to make it pretty painless for the rest of us.

    And now a question :)

I've had an offer from the Yorkshire Bank of £4,800 for front loaded ppi on a few continuation loans. Successful on 3 but turned down on 2, one in 2000, the other 2003. The reason they give is that "Due to time elapsed; we are unable to investigate these loans further. If you are in possession of the original loan agreements we can investigate further" When I sent the questionnaire, I also sent a letter and copies of bank statements showing the loan and ppi amounts.

So, are they being truthful in that I do need the original loan agreements and should accept the offer. Or should the statements be all that they need?

Ps The amounts arent that great btw, and not really important, just curious as to them taking the ****
  • Gosh this reclaiming is a nightmere!!

Iam trying to sort out my finances myself without going to the compaines. I would like to try and claim back the PPI on my old Barclaycard. I do have the statments probably just over half, but not the whole 6 years worth. Not sure how to proceed as this was closed back in 2007. Iam not prepared to send the copies of my statements with the claim letter as there are quiet a few?? Any advice??

Hi all, wonder if anybody can assist. I took a loan with HSBC in 2002 for about £2000 over 2 years. I was sold ppi also and I remember it coming out as a separate payment.

I no longer have any paperwork for this loan or ppi, it would have been completed in 2004. I've had my current account with HSBC since the mid 90s and this is the only loan that I've had with them.

Is it likely that they'll still have/provide me with details of that loan and ppi? Or do I not have a hope??

    Thanks in advance
  • thank you so much amersall - will get it all sorted this week and keep you updated as to our success :)

Does anyone know how long the FOS are currently taking to make decisions? They have had my claim since the beginning of March after Welcome Finance told me they thought my case was too old and therefore wouldnt deal with it.

hi ppl, it would me much appreciated for any advice on this issue.

I have recieved an offer of 2100.00 from hsbc for 4 of the 9 ppi claims i submitted, the other 4 were too old and and the 5th loan amount £9000.00 they have not accepted responability for as they say i was eligible for the plan, and have sent me a photo copy of the signed agreement saying i have received information in relation to the plan, and that i had a cancellation period to review and cancel it. I have no paper work for any of these loans apart from policy numbers and account numbers. My question is if i take this futher and do not accept the offer could i end up with nothing????
