He is of I'll health and has asked for my help as he is sure he has been paying PPI on all or at least most of these cards and never wanted/asked or even really knew what PPI was for. I have been reading through the info on this site and it's very helpful although they do advise not to bother starting a claim if you do not have good grounds. As he could be entitled to a lot of money back I wanted to ask for as much help & advice before beginning his claim.
Thanks for any response guys

If any/all apply to him then make the complaints.
Some do this over the phone, if you fill a questionnaire for him then he must sign it.0 -

Yes i think robbies got the best idea, then anything coming back to you could go to the card balance theoretically, doesn't matter about the defaults i had them as well it doesn't make any difference, unfortunately as to the cmc if you've signed a contract you will have to pay them.
I am a newb, so please pardon me.
I just received a letter from MBNA saying that although I had PPI, that I called to cancel it and the money was refunded.
I do not have a recollection of this. They did not indicate in their letter when I made the call and how much was refunded. They also said I am not entitled to any ppi and it is their final response. They also said I should take it to FOS if I am not happy.
Can anyone please suggest what to do.0 -
Thanks.

Write back to them and ask for this in writing, when you cancelled and what amount they paid you back, so you can send this to FOS.
Was this a Loan or CC?.0 -
It was a credit card from MBNA.0

It was a credit card from MBNA.
Hi there & welcome
I agree with amersall.
I would write back and tell them you think it will be only fair if they can provide you with a breakdown which includes showing where PPI was cancelled as you cannot recall on when this was done, so if they can please send you the details as you want to see concrete evidence of this for your records.
Do you have any old credit card statements that show PPI/insurance also being deducted? The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
