I had a mild stroke in 2009, which resulted in me losing my job. I phoned Littlewoods catalogue to ask them to cut me some slack for a while and they told me to stop paying them, go to the CAB and see what they advised. I did all that and the CAB advised me to offer a payment of £1.00 until I got back on my feet. I rang Littlewoods again and they told me to claim on my 'easy cover care' insurance, which I didn't even know I was paying. Litts gave me the tel number of the insurance company covering them (and me). I rang them to find out what to do and they told me that I had NO claim as I hadn't kept up the insurance by not paying Littlewoods for a month.:( I have not been able to gain full time employment since 2009 so have little money to pay any of my debtors.

I have been stewing for years now as Litts are the only ones who have not accepted a payment plan ( I pay them £5.00 per month anyway, whether they like it or not, as per CAB advice) but have found out recently that they are still piling on the interest (I owed them £600.00 in 2009 and I still owe them over £1000.00 now).

I was wondering if I could claim my 'easy care cover' back which would help me pay Litts a lump sum? I do not have any paperwork left (as it was three years ago I had my mis-fortune) but I was with Litts for about 30 years and have always paid 'easy care cover' as I thought it was a condition of the terms. Please could someone advise me if I am able to claim anything that could help me
Get in touch with littlewoods ( you only need the account number)and tell them you were mis sold this PPI as you were not aware that you had it, tell them what you have put here, let them know that you are taking this to the FOS as this " not being able to claim" after advice from Littlewoods, has caused your account balance to increase due to the ineptness of one of their staff members.
Let me know what they say.

    Hi all!
Please can you tell me if i can reclaim PPI from a company that has ceased trading? A CMC called recently and told me that there is "a pot of money" set aside for such a scenario and that they could reclaim my PPI from this.
Another question i have is Re BMW finance - would i have been sold PPI with this?
    Thanks guys

Do not use a claims company!!!!!:mad:you will be banished from this site :rotfl::rotfl:
Seriously :D who is the company in liquidation and what year did you take this loan out?.

It is possible you had PPI with BMW you need to get hold of a copy of the agreement from them.
  • at last someone who understands... the person at the CAB when I told them said that Litts insurance were within their rights to not allow me to use the cover as I had not paid one premium. The more I read on here , the more I believe I have a chance to claim at least something. Thank you again. I will keep you informed.

Ok could do with a little help with this one , it is a complaint my wife has made , the application was made online with the halifax in 2002 and my wife is adamant she wouldnt have taken out the ppi as she recieved full sickness pay and a good redundancy package. They have rejected the complaint with the following.

" i am aware that the documentation that you were provided with both at the point of sale and after purchasing your ppi policy, such as the summary of the policy and policy booklet fully explained the benefits and limitations of this policy.

In particular, i have reviewed the information that we gave you about the exclusions and limitations of the policy and i have concluded that these were explained to you sufficiently , clearly and you were not significantly affected by them. ( just to add my wife has asthma would this be considered a existing medical condition?)

I can confirm that it has never been a requirement to take out a ppi policy and have concluded that the documentation you were provided with was not misleading in any way. I have therefore come to the conclusion that you were made aware of the optional nature of your ppi policy.

I can verify that there were no alternative policies available at the time of sale. When considering the information available during your application and your policy booklet i can conclude that we did supply you with sufficient information to ensuer you could make an informed decision as to whether the policy met your personal requirements, it cannot therefore be concluded that the information and disclosure given was inappropriate in the circumstances. "

The letter goes on to say the usual "my review has nit highlighted any failings with the sale that would lead me to believe your decision to purchase the ppi policy would have changed". My wife is certain this must have been an 'opt out ' box or the box was pre ticked , she has asthma , got full sick pay , i could have easily payed the bill if for some strange reason she could not.

A few pointers would be appreciated as im not always the best at forming a structured letter, my wife is going to write back and if the complaint is still rejected take it to the FOS.

Sorry for the long post :)

If your Wife had asthma before she took this Card out and needed to claim on the policy, if it was any condition that related to the asthma then they would not have paid out.

It is possible that it could have been an "opt out" box, we need someone who knows if this was the case for that year.

Your Wife needs to write back to Halifax and state about the asthma and the pay she would have received had she been on sick from work, if she had a life insurance policy, put that as well and ask the question .... why, when there was sick pay in play for 12 months, would someone then take a PPI that covered the same term at a cost when this cover was available for "free" also the same with the life insurance, why would someone pay for extra cover when they already have this in place too.

You need to reject the reasons for not upholding the complaint that i have put above, let them know that the cover already in place, discounts 2 of the claimable events that this PPI would have covered.

Do not let this drop :D had you known about this PPI you would have claimed and would not have not paid Littlewoods nothing, they got you in this mess and they have to get you out of it, also tell them you want the charges that they have been putting on this account returned to you, it is their fault they are on there in the first place, threaten them with FOS if you have to.
  • Hey guys, looking for a bit of advice really I'm about to begin the process of reclaiming PPI on behalf of a friend who is of Ill health and has asked for my help.

So any advice on reclaiming on behalf of someone else, also what is the differences in the reclaim process when it's credit card PPI??
  • Dear all,
Can anybody help? I was recently contacted by a company from wales who wanted to reclaim PPI on my behalf. They seemed to know a lot about my personal finances including a loan i and my partner had taken out. I explained to them that i didn't think i could qualify to claim because i never take out PPI and they claimed that the PPI would have been added even with out my knowledge?

Now i would never use any company like this, one because i don't trust these type of companies and two they wanted money up front!

I have checked the t&C's of my loan and it says i do not have PPI.

But can anyone tell me if there is any substance to what this company are claiming about hinden charges?

    Many thanks
    Errol

    PPI New question please
    Hello all,

After all the news about PPI, I contacted my previous mortgage provider and complained about the total mortgage protection plan (TMPP) added to my initial mortgage. I was definitely misold because I worked through an agency and I was sceptical even at the time that it would be good value but was made to feel that it was part of the mortgage.
I have received a letter after my first and only phone call basically accepting liablility iand offering me a refund of my premium of £609.84 and interest at the gross of 8% (£385.62). The TMPP was made up of Mortgage repayment cover (MRC), Life cover and Critical illness cover. This refund is only based on the MRC element as they say it's is the only PPI.
Should I accept this initial offer?, Do I have any claim on the other elements of the TMPP?
Any advice welcome. Thank you very much

There is no difference, if you have the card number and reasons for mis sell, then put a claim in.
