the timing and also the fact that the figure quoted is about what I'm expecting is making me wonder if someone at Lloyds has sold them my details. What do you think? Just co-incidence?
I certainly won't be sending any kind of reply :)
Without a doubt, it's just a random coincidence. This will just be a CMC fishing for custom. They've just plucked an average PPI redress figure.
    Well done for not replying.

The frightening thing is though i have heard of this happening before, on here as well, although as you say Mark this is more likely a coincidence

The figure is just a lucky guess and just happened to reach someone who was expecting that amount (which is exactly what the sender of these texts was hoping, of course)

I was cold-called on the day I first sent my PPI complaint questionnaire to the Bank. I'd never been called about PPI before.
    Pure coincidence, I think.

After taking out a new mortgage in 2004, I informed the adviser that I wished to take out mortgage payment protection insurance in the event of redundancy.

At the time the adviser suggested critical coverand sickness, I advised that as a local government worker I would receive 6 months full pay, followed by 6 months at half pay. Although the notes I have confirm this the box for crital cover was ticked by the adviser.

I signed assuming it was for the cover that I had wanted. The tick box for redundancy was above the crital illness.

I do blame myself for not reading the paperwork, but the forms that I have do state mortgage protection and I thought mortgage protection was about redundancy cover.

2 years ago I was off work sick for about 4 months, no claim was put in, because I didn't even know I had cover. I found out by chance when I booked a review appointment and asked specifically about redundancy protection, only to be told I don't have it. Seen then I have taken out a new policy to cover me in the event of redundancy.

Wanted to know if I could put in a claim. I have recently cancelled the policy.
  • Hi All,
This may have been asked before but I will ask anyway. Had a loan with Paragon which was paid off 4 years ago. I cannot find paper work for it but have account number somewhere. My question is this. I cant remember if I got the loan through a company like Ocean or Norton(which would be my luck). Would it be them or Paragon I would approach.

Hi karen whats the name of your adjudicator? progress this to the ombudsman now, they will look a lot more closely at your complaint, the general consensus is that the ombudsman will take the same view as the adjudicator but this was not the case in my situation, Cap 1 are not invincible lovely, although it does seem like that at times, keep your chin up and keep crashing into them, If it had'nt been for our lovely Di here i would have given up at the first hurdle. She persuaded me to keep going and i got them in the end.:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

It's Victoria ... can't remember her full name and haven't got her email from last time any more. I told her I would progress it, but she has to write to me first and I have to email her back. My most recent argument was that at no time did anyone from Cap1 discuss ppi with me or inform me that it was optional - I could have got this from reading my T&Cs - so they weren't obliged to do it. Anyhoo, onwards and upwards.

    Thanks Steve! :A

  • Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I would like to know how a refund on credit card ppi is calculated?
I have been offered a refund broken down as follows:
Refunds of payments PPI cover £3142.53
Refund of interest charged on PPI premiums £2643.05
8% simple interest per annum £254.14

Could you advise if this calculation is correct as the simple interest / interest charged on PPI premiums seems low after looking at one of your posts on contractual interest? Barclaycard claim from 2004.

    Thanks Kim

Hi karen my original adjudicator was the same although she went as far as to say that the fos could see that i had'nt been provided with a proper statement detailing the benefits on the policy and the premium paid which i argued was quite an omission. I think they send out pretty much an automated response on these capital one cards, the second adjudicator looked at it totally differently though and with the ombudsman being involved cap 1 will have to prove everything,Di persuaded me to keep going and i think it'll be worth you giving it another shot, although i know you feel like giving up, i did, i got close on 2k out of it so it's worth pursuing all it's going to cost is extra time, the fos have never ultimately let me down and i have 5 cases in with them at the mo.
