Phone them again and tell them what you were told about the ppi previous and if they do not deal with this complaint you will take this to FOS as this is front loaded ppi and you were not told it was a loan on a loan to term end with interest.
I take it you settled this early? if you did you would have had a rebate of the ppi, but the remaining ppi was still there and you paid this back in the settlement.
If this does not work then send them a Sar

Enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond.
ok, i phoned them and they stated that the other guy must of got mixed up as the only insurance was mortgage protection and life cover ( don't recall taking out life cover tho) there was no ppi. he also said that the complaint is now closed.0 -
Did they say you took the ppi out in 2001 or was it 2001 that you opened the account?.
Do as Cappo says and send it to FOS.0 -
Hi
i just rang nationwide and asked if they received my acceptance letter, and of course they have, i did ask how the interest was paid, and he confused me, but one good thing he said they are going back 10 years, i didnt even no I had paid it that long. My offer was £1,201, but he said i will get alot more, I so would love to know what the final offer will be, but ive got to wait, they are calculating at the moment, anyone hazzard a rough guess?

Do a Sar and then you will know for sure, this should give you the loan agreement, if there is PPI on there make the complaint again to Citi and enclose a copy of the agreement do not forget the front loaded reason if this goes to FOS.0 -
