  • Credit Card
I finally got my credit card statement and realised that the refund of £100 that they did, they charged interest on this. I had asked for the refund because when I went to change my DD to £100 they told me to make a manual payment as the DD would not be set up in time, so I did and they took the £100 out by DD as well so the only way around that was to refund the manual payment. I rang them and they did refund the interest including the interest that went on for next month but this month's payment will clear it, hopefully. I was hoping that I would be a bit more set as to where I am with the cc this month but now need to wait until next statement date. Since July I have paid a total of £261.49 and I will be sending another £14.13 to it along with £100 DD which will happened in Sept.

    Catalogue
I made another £35 payment this month and the balance is now £34.98 and that will be paid off at the end of Sept. :T I keep my catalogue for electrically emergencies but hopefully one day I will have a nice EF to not use it. ;)

    Mum
Haven't paid anything to mum yet. I am doing up some crochet items for her so that she can gift them and I did say I will just take off from what I owe her rather than her giving me money for materials. The thing I am not too sure on what to do is, do I charge labour too? She is my mum and I probably would not normally do so. Any ideas?

    Credit Union
This balance is down to £400.56. :j I am never too sure how much of my £130 per month goes to interest and shares. I know that £1 does go to my savings. So need to keep an eye on this but I know it will be paid out by the end of the year. I will hold off until June 2018 before looking at renewing this. I do need work done in the house and this is my only means of doing it when having to pay off a credit card. :(

    Car Loan
This is ongoing until March 2020 unfortunately. :(

    Mortgage
I am due to renew this come the beginning of December so will start looking into it beginning of November. I am hoping that I can get a decent rate that will shave some time off my mortgage.

  • I have also been spending quite a bit lately. Today alone I have spend around £18-£19 and also managed to spend around £51 at the weekend. But it is all for holidays. I desperately needed underwear and we both needed toiletries. But I have also been treating myself to lunch and in the passed two weeks I have eaten out three times. I am also going out for lunch tomorrow. But I feel it's all in the run up to me winding down. I will definitely be back on the wagon when I get home.

  • So just back from holidays to the vet bill. Turned out to be 3 times more than I had expected......£294.99!!!! That's just the insurance excess as it was covered under the insurance. I am going to have to get items listed on EBay this week.

Also DH got word that there is about £300 worth of work needed to be done to the van. That's not on top of £60 we need to paid for what the mechanic done to get him through MOT.....if it even goes through.

Well that's a nice end to the hols and there I was suggesting to DH about organising a weekend away after Christmas. Not so sure if that will happen now.

  • So DH's van goes in for MOT this morning. I doubt it will get through as it fails every year even though we ask a mechanic to look at it. But even if it does pass we need to still get the work done anyway.

Going to head into Mr A afterwards to get a chicken for dinner tonight. I haven't done a grocery shop since coming back from hols except picking up bits to make the dogs dinner yesterday. Need to get a few bits though as back to work on Tuesday and back to healthy eating so not only going to meal plan, I hope to meal prep.

  • Fingers crossed that the van passes the MOT and that the work needed isn't too expensive x
  • So the van passed it's MOT but God only knows how that happened considering it died while it was getting tested. :rotfl: I took it through as normally but as I drove into the test centre it made a weird noise and the air bag light came on and the diesel needle dropped to zero. When the tester got in he said that the air bag light was an automatic fail but I told him it only came on as I drove in. Then he put it on that part that shakes the vehicle about and it died. The dashboard lights wouldn't come on and the ignition would not start. :rotfl: He told me to pop the bonnet and he did something and it started working again. I am not sure if he was allowed to do that but it was just the battery terminal that popped off. Couldn't believe it when he passed it. Still have to get the breaks and exhaust sorted but couldn't believe it. I was so hungry we ended up in McDs for food.

  • Yay to the van passing. What a relief :) hope you enjoyed the maccy's
  • So I am back to work and I haven't done much in the way of looking at my budget and bank account. I have been busy at work trying to catch up so hope to have everything balanced by the end of the week.

I got notification that my mortgage is due for renewal so have went on to look at the rates for a fixed rate for 2 years. There was an offer for 1.39% but with a product fee of £999 or one with no product fee and at the rate of 1.59%. I think I will go with the ladder as I don't want to add any fees. I will have to give them a ring as I also want to talk about decreasing the term from 10 years 11 months to 10 years and see how much that runs me monthly.

I still haven't paid the vet bills. I can get £200 to them but will have to use £100 I put away for oil on top of the £100 I had. Vets are not the type to wait for their payments so I need to get this sorted asap but not sure where I am getting the extra £95. I might have to forfeit the extra payment to cc this month. :o

  • So I got a look at my bank balance today and I am just a little annoyed that it isn't great. It will go slightly overdrawn by a few pennies but I will get that transferred back in. I am just annoyed that the £75 I set aside for Christmas pressies was eaten up by purchasing items for holiday and getting my hair done. The extra money I made here and there last month also went to this. Oh well, can't do anything about that now.

I also don't think I will be managing the extra £75 per month on top of my DD of £100 to cc this month. I really need to get that vet bill paid as they don't wait too long for their payments and since I know the vet I don't want to be embrassed for not paying it. So need to use my oil money and any extra money I make this month with surveys etc to put towards this. However going to have to tell DH I need to use some of the money set aside for the van work as well. He will not be a happy bunny....he just hates vets!

I am also so behind on put into my sealed pot and Christmas saver so need to get on top of all that too. Sometimes you think is it worth the headache going on holidays. :o

  • I also managed to ring my mortgage co yesterday and got the transfer to the new deal of 1.59% and no product fee. I didn't bother with reducing my term as I could only take it down by 5-6 months and just opt to pay overpayments if I can afford it. I just think I have other important things to pay at the moment and maybe I can put that £20 I have saving each month with the new deal to an Emergency Fund which I think is so high priority.
