How can people be so horrible?

Most of the forums on MSE are incredibly useful and helpful. The exceptions are the Benefits boards which are thronged with lowlife trolls who deliberately post inflammatory answers to, often, new posters in order to get a reaction. They then thank each other for their 'useful' posts. But I guess Lewis and his team tacitly agree with these posts because otherwise the offending members would be PPRd. Wouldn't they?

No doubt one of the Forum team will be along in a while to make some anodyne statement to the effect that we should report offending posts via the abuse button.
