How can people be so horrible?

Just wanted to say that people can be very nasty on this site, I asked for some advice a few months ago about my working tax credits and people were so horrible. Some were helpful but others just wanted to drill in to me that I am am wrong for claiming tax credits and they should b taken away as I only work part time. Just hope it never happens to anyone who treated me like dirt. The goverment will start on the do gooders next No ones safe.:(

    Yes, it is very sad.

Unfortunately it is sometimes difficult to be entirely non judgemental - we are, after all, just human.

Try not to let it deter you from using the forum - there are many more helpful and wise people than the 'benefit bashers'. I particularly hate reading on the other forums such comments as 'try the Benefit Forum but wear a hard hat as there are some nasty people on there'.

You could always click on the Ignore button if you wanted to. Best not to 'feed' them by replying to their judgemental comments.

I have posted several questions before and got some nasty responses, but it's just like water off a ducks back to me. However a lot of people are not like that and it will upset them.

I think that people who reply to messages in this way should be banned from the site or at least warned 1st. There is no need to be like that at all. Some vulnerable people come on here to seek advise not to be abused!!
  • im in the situation as u i think its a case of if u dont work ur in the wrong and if u do work they say why do u do more hours ur still in the wrong i dont whats right for my family and stuff the ones that moan !!
  • use the report button to report anyone that is being out of order. There are rules for using these boards and benefit bashing is not allowed.

I've reported a few and one particular nasty one seems to have disappeared from here since then.

I don't understand why people feel the need to be on a benefits board if nothing there applies to them or if they can't give some useful advice.

answering them back only makes them keep going so ignore and report is my advice

I've found the advice to most people here to be constructive and helpful, particularly when I myself have had to ask questions. I think the ones that tend to get picked on most are those that seek advice with the obvious intention of obtaining benefits fraudulently.

There's one post around here somewhere where the woman is asking why Customs and Revenue have been in touch with her when she's claiming to be a single parent, the person that is on the joint mortgage and joint bank account is just someone she happens to share the mortgage with. All well and good until you check her other post which quite clearly says that they are in actual fact a couple.

Now had she put her hands up and was asking what she should do in this situation then yes, she should get the advice that she now clearly needs. However, she's decided that she would like to keep up the pretence that she is a single mother. Does somebody like that deserve advice on how to continue to receive benefits fraudulently? I personally think not.
  • Sometimes its like i can actually hear the tone of voice in some posts!! And them invisible tuts!!! Lol!!! x
The feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea

I posted my first post today in desperate need of help and some people were really horrible too.
Try and ignore them as one guy I think genuinely believed himself to be Elvis which gave me a giggle x

Yes, unfortunately I agree. To be frank I'm amazed that people still come to this site asking for advice as I have to say word is spreading to other forums as to the kind of reception they're likely to receive on here.

    Sad really.

Ultimately their is a core of angry trolls that need somewhere to slap their gums together and vent their frustrations at being impotent, and completely powerless to change things based on their own dictatorial belief systems.

So basically bitter control freaks. Once you realize how sad and powerless they truly are you'll stop wasting your time with them.

That's just a thinly veiled excuse, you can see that when those that are to rabid and angry to stick with that reasoning start attacking people simply for claiming tax credits as in the OP's case, and i have to say i see that a lot. Their's nothing rational about it, as you seem to imply.
If by "do gooders" you mean those that work but don't claim any welfare, then the government certainly won't "start on" those, as they are the ones the country needs. No point in the government chasing away those that foot the bill.
Wrong. They are already doing it, they have been doing it for eons. Previously they would put it down to the welfare bill hence the easy scapegoating of benefit claimants.

Now with the benefit overhaul coming in that excuse is going by the wayside. Tell me when the Government brought in student loans and 'your' money stopped being paid out as a grant did you get any of it back in any way?

Likewise with the student fees, the extreme cutback to services, all these changes they have made to save 'your' money have you got any of it back in any way?

Of course the fashionable response would be it's going towards the deficit. Who created the deficit and why should your money be used as a safety net for their rank imcompetence?

You ARE being ripped off and at its core its got nothing to do with any of the excuses they are making. ;)
  • I have been reading posts on this forum for about 2 years but never needed to post anything. All of the other sections are really good especially the DIY one. Then when you get on this section and the Disability & Dosh one, it seems that there are people that have a sick attitude to benefit claimants.
They seem to have one thing in common - to 'bash everyone' that wants answers to how to maximise their benefit entitlement, or avoid losing benefits or how to go about making a claim that has a good chance in it being successful.

They must be on a retainer from the Treasury!

Then there are those that accuse people of being trolls or being someone they are not.
But most of all their comments give no help to the question asked.

I have also seen members that have only recently joined talk as though they have been on this site before and must have been banned or something and rejoined which is against the rules.

The best is when someone slates someone for asking a question and half a dozen of the same people everytime thank them for the post.

Have a look at sunnyone - every time they make an awful comment the same people congatulate them for it!!

If I was you I would have a quick scan and you will find who I am talking about then put them on ignore. Their posts wouldn't be helpful anyhow!
