How can people be so horrible?

  • I have found most people on this forum very helpfull. With any forum on the internet there'll be trolls or posters wanting to stir things up. Just ignore them. Don't allow them to ruin the whole forum
for you, there's no need. Don't let them get to you.
Also there'll be genuine replies that you may not like/agree with, but the same with everything in life everyone has an opinion whether its the same as yours (not you personally) or not. Its how the world work.

Who is "psychologist"? Please provide a reference to support your claim, perhaps from the DSM-IV or the ICD-10?

I hope you are not expecting me to write an essay on this (LOL) as I have a biology essay to write.

Using the spectrum approach which allows for mixed types, nastiness comes under antisocial personality disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, bipolar disorder, etc, etc.

We all have mental health issues, some more than others

Just wanted to say that people can be very nasty on this site, I asked for some advice a few months ago about my working tax credits and people were so horrible. Some were helpful but others just wanted to drill in to me that I am am wrong for claiming tax credits and they should b taken away as I only work part time. Just hope it never happens to anyone who treated me like dirt. The goverment will start on the do gooders next No ones safe.:(

Perhaps I'm slightly thicker skinned than you but, I've been looking at your other posts and I can't see where anyone has been horrible to you.

Quite why you've chosen to wait a couple of months before bemoaning any perceived slight is beyond me. The world is full of differing opinions and all are only words in the ether on the internet, you sought information and received it, job done.

As long as the answers or comments were directed at the question first asked and that the answer or comment is constructive in the positive or indeed in the negative.

There certainly isn't a need to make comments that are personal or that they have no real bearing on the matter in hand.

In simple words, if you can't help - don't post!!

not sure why but reminds me of this someone_is_wrong_on_the_internet1.jpg
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

All is relative depending upon the reader. Constructive may not always be a comfortable fit with the answer a person wants to hear.

I thought exactly the same on both points.

There was a lot of good advice given on the other thread which unfortunately didn't seem to suit the OP.

Many people get stroppy when they dislike the advice they're given but coming back a couple of months later to drag it all up again is really sad.
  • :mad:I came back on to check for anymore advice as the subject I asked on is taking effect soon, but whe I read througth comments I realised how nasty peole were, so thats why I only said something now!
  • I don't know anything about tax credits and I don't post on the benefits boards but I think generally some people are unpleasant on fora (forums?) simply because they can be and there's no comeback. In real life, many of the eejits who post to have a go at someone else or go round spreading rumours behind people's backs would get a deserved smack in the mouth. Others forget that behind a username, there is actually a person who has feelings.

On the other hand however, there are those who only post threads to validate their own opinions and storm off in a huff/report posts and posters because they are disagreed with and cannot stand it. These posters then post threads (not saying you are doing this Sophiaw as I haven't read your original thread) complaining about their treatment.

A happy medium is necessary but I do think that in the current economic climate, some posters won't find it.

OP - you are not alone in your thinking.

There are certain bits of the board which are more helpful than others, as I am sure you will come to learn.

For instance, posting about a benefits/tax/general question in "discussion" will result in you being berated no matter what.
    Oh, you wee bazza!
