    It doesn't.
The regulation is drafted that it only applies to (c) compensation. If the time limit applied to (a) and (b) the regulation would be drafted in a different way.

If it did apply to (a) and (b), the solicitor didn't want a claim to continue in lewroll's case.

Just to further develop this point and use an arguement I used a couple of years ago, if there were a temporal limit (i.e. 14 days) on the applicability of the Regulation in the way Westin suggests, then this would mean that an airline could cancel flights giving more than 14 days notice and then refuse to refund the passenger.

That isn't logical and therefore lends credence to the comments made by Wicked Wolfie in his post Richardw refers to above.

Whilst the legal nuances might not mean much to us as lay-people, the legally trained and their clients are well aware of how the Regulation is drafted and respond accordingly e.g. Lewroll's claim.

I'm guessing that it was for personal reasons and they requested the removal of the posts.

Ryanair have just cancelled my flight and have notified me less than two weeks before departure.

They have offered a free transfer onto the next available flight but that is two days later. Am I right in thinking that they must also pay compensation because they have cancelled within two weeks of departure?
