Old fuse box replacement

The only thing I don't like about Hager is the rubbish plastic 'screws' for the front cover. Inevitably I find that on existing consumer units they are mangled....

Click HERE does this seem like a good one at £57 of course I beleive you still have to buy all the MCBs so go in it..which would be about £20-30 depending on how many you installed

Fine, but do you really need a 14 way unit? Wouldn't 10 or 12 way do? Don't forget that price at TLC is +VAT.

No wouldnt need a 14 way just picked that one as they only has 12 or 14. Never bought anything from TLC didnt realise about the vat but didnt really expect to get it from there.Though some of the other places I looked at screwfix etc didnt seem to do hager. Is there a better place to look ?

8 way Hager board here for £31.16 +VAT (and MCBs @ around £3 each). Their Hager RCBOs aren't bad value either.

Theres no such thing as "mates rates" or there shouldn't be. If there are someone somewhere in the process is getting the rough end of the pineapple. Inevitably that almost always includes the taxman.

I notice some of todays consumer units have dual(twin) RCDs so every circuit would be RCD protected..I was under the impression that some circuits were better off not on an RCD such as fridge/freezes as this could lead to lots ot tripping. Also lights, fire alarms, smoke alarms. Have things changed regardling this ? My sister had a new CU fitted afew years ago it has 1 RCD so some circuits were not rcd protected.

Refrigeration appliances are not especially prone to causing tripping. The reason is simply the loss of food if they are on an RCD circuit which trips for wahtever reason.
