Vanquis - what the hell is going on with this company?

in Credit cards
I am getting a bit concerned now. Tried to pay my card online as my statement came in the post - it went through the motions and then told me that the payment could not be authorised.
I tried calling their call centre and it says they are closed and to call back between 8AM and 8PM... and yes I did call at 1PM!
has anyone else had trouble today?
I am beginning to wish I'd never taken a card with them!

Its normal for them, that way they can rake in as much interest as possible.
Try setting up a DD with them instead.0 -
I did manage to get into contact with them eventually at 5 o'clock when their phone system magically began working again!
They tried to run my payment through and it failed again. They then tried a third time and said I'd have to wait until tomorrow to find out if it had gone through, and it could take up to 10 days... My statement isn't due until march 13th but if their negligence ruins my credit report I'm going to hit the roof.
... I think I will phone tomorrow and if there are still problems I will demand they place a DD on the account for the full amount.
There are several things about vanquis that concern me to be honest. When they called me (twice) to say they'd accepted me, they hung up as soon as I answered both times. I had to call them. Then they tell me I have to register my debit card as electron because they don't have a debit mastercard option. They try to sell you crap nearly every time you phone too. I don't like this company at all to be honest, despite the english call centres, and I would not refer them to anyone!Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
I had similar issues. I set up DD but yet to get letters from them. Tried paying online and when i click pay by debit card it goes back to may account. Had to spend ages paying on the phone. Atleast it is paid incase DD isn't set up.
I think it is tactics to get you in the downward spiral of debt and charges0 -
With the rates they charge and the fact that their clients may not be the most "organised", I would imagine they're making it as hard as they can for you to pay the bill.
That and they're based in Bradford."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
I've finally managed to sort this out now.
Firstly, I called their 0208 number that I have saved in my phone, and that I know goes through to customer services. The same one that didn't work yesterday. I got through to someone who claimed he wasn't CS and that I'd have to phone an 0871 number (yeah right!) to get through. A quick look on saynoto0870.com and ALL of the geographical area codes weren't working. A last ditch effort, I re-called the 0208 number and magically got through to "customer services"!.
The lady I spoke to was nice and had me sorted within 10 minutes. the payment I asked the rep to make yesterday did go through and will hit the account in time for my statement payment date. I have also set a DD for the next statement onwards so I don't have to deal with this sh:mad:t again and risk ruining my credit.
I really feel sorry for people who use this company that may not have their wits about them - they're a shambles and are obviously out to con people. When (if) I get my capital one card I can assure my vanquis card will lay dormant!Oh, you wee bazza!0 -

That's where their registered office is but very little happens there. All the processing and work is done out of Kent on the whole.0 -
You may branch out of Bradford but you never actually LEAVE Bradford"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0
